My family and I vacationed at Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, SC from August 21-25, 2011. We stayed in a two bedroom villa in St. James Place. On the morning of our third day, I noticed a bed bug crawling across the sofa in the living room of our villa. I immediately called the front desk and they sent out a manager and called Pest Control who confirmed that it was, indeed, a bed bug. The manager and Pest Control checked our entire set of luggage and assured us that it was clear and free of additional bed begs. They assigned us to another unit and delivered the luggage later in the day. My wife spent six hours that afternoon washing and drying all of our clothes. We decided to throw away those four pieces of luggage and numerous other items in order to avoid taking bed bugs back to our home. Unfortunately, the next night I found yet another bed bug in a toiletry bag and reported this to the hotel manager in the morning while we packed to leave. I cannot even begin to explain the frustration and disgust that we experienced and we certainly expected more from a Hilton Resort property. A portion of our vacation was credited back to our account, but the amount of time spent dealing with this issue during and after our vacation was not worth the trip to Kingston Plantation.

Found Bed Bugs in room 129 on Oct. 21. Reported to front desk and got another room. They took $10.00 off of bill and said "that is too bad." Felt that they were not concerned about incident.

The old lady who lives there has a share studio that she rent to students from all over the world. The first room we checked into had a roach crawling in the bathtub. We were then moved into another room. The room was very clean and neat, but we noticed that each bed had mattress covers. Which is not common in any hotel. We slept well, so we thought! Woke up with bright red itchy bites all over us. We called the front desk to come to our room, and they did not seem shocked. We had heard that heat kills bedbugs, so we put all of our belongings into the dryer, dried them, and checked out immediately. Now we have spent every day since then hoping we did not bring any home.

After driving 15 hours to get to Myrtle beach, we arrived at Forest Dunes to see when we could check in. I gave them my number and they said they would call as soon as it was ready but told us to enjoy the amenities (beach, pool etc.) So we decided to go to the pool.. Awhile after we had been swimming they called to let us know that our room was ready. WE had watched a show on tv called bed bug apocolypse and we decided we needed to check the beds before taking any of our belongings up to the room. So we went up to room 902 and started to check the beds and found bed bugs on BOTH beds! I went out into the hallway as housekeeping was out there and I told them what we had found so they came in and looked and they were very grossed out. They then called management and we waited for 3 ladies to arrive on the 9th floor. I went back into the room with them and told them where I saw them and they went over to the beds and seen them (they were mainly around the zipper part of the bed bug cover) They were immeadiatley grossed out and saying "that's it" and the one lady said that she had to get them off of the beds so she went and got a cup and put them in it. The staff was very courteous and offered us another room (802) which we decided not to take only because we didn't want to deal with it and have to look through another room! If you have ever seen any shows on bed bugs then you know what a pest they are! they did let us shower in room 802 and then we left. Since our room was rented through a private owner they couldn't refund our money. We did end up getting our money back for this room and will absolutely NOT return to Forest Dunes again! I have a feeling that this place is only going to worse.. BEWARE OF ROOM 902 and check your entire matress AND boxspring when you are staying somewhere!! I am so thankful that we did! We were in our car for about 72 hours but it sure beats staying in a place with bed bugs!!

Stayed 5/31/11 to 6/4/11 found live and dead bed bugs in bed. Front desk moved us to another room on the 10th flr (at 12:30 am) then in the morning the manager moved us to a completely new building. I recorded the bugs on cell phone and the maintenance man who came also verified they were bed bugs.

i complained and they would not move me from room they treated the room with heat and said they changed the mattresses out I marked the boxspring with a big red X and it was still in the room when i came back. I moved out and the room was heat treated again and the girl staying in the room says the box spring is still in the room

I will be staying there in July with family, and I heard about the bed bug problem. I must say this is awful, we will be coming any way I just hope the resort rooms are clean and in good condition, we will be there for a long weekend, I truly don't want to get disappointed, we are looking forward to a wonderful time, we are coming down from Connecticut. Please don't disappoint me.

Bed Bugs in 2 our of 4 rooms of our suite in the Margate Tower. We were moved to a different room, and given one night stay for free. They said that this was their first reported case. However, when we first arrived, we noticed that there was a tag on the door that said "This room has just been steamed cleaned."
