I had actually checked the mattress for bed bugs, as I always do at hotels, and did not find any. So we went to bed around 12am, having to wake up at 2am anyways to catch an early flight. Upon waking up a black bug ran across my chest on the white sheet. I jumped up to find them crawling all over my bed. We picked up a pillow and they fell out of it. There were some in the other bed as well. We called the front desk and they sent the maintenance man/bus driver to check it out. He came in and even jumped back when he saw them. It was disgusting!

We moved here from an apartment complex that had excellent pest control and mandatory inspections every month (it was in the lease). Shortly after moving here we found out the previous tenants had left abruptly, under mysterious reasons and were here for only a few weeks. It is important for me to mention that we never knew bedbugs actually existed, we do not buy used items, nor do we have company (we were new to Orlando). I complained about bugs for months before they sent pest control for the first time and after a year of going back and forth (to no avail) with the properties pest control, we were lead to believe several things throughout the course of complaining repeatedly. We were told for several months that there were no bugs by pest control (until I brought the asst.manager to view the many infestations), then we were told they were Asian beetles (this was after I brought video, pictures, and a bedbug to the office. Last week I went (again) to the office explained in detail my entire experiences, showed the video of the bugs in the pillows, on the bed and bites on my swollen face and the bugs found in my sons diapers (I had to take him to the doctor for treatment for the bites in his diaper area). I was promised someone would be out to treat our apartment...we are still waiting two weeks later. Please, spare yourself the pain, the expense (I now have no furniture, my kids have no beds and I do not sleep at night for fear of my kids being bite. I am scared to move because I do not want to bring them with me and I am scared to stay because it is only getting worst. We are very clean people and as a result I clean, wash, scrub, mop, vacuum and repeat all day to no avail. Please be warned I just wish they people who had left this apartment before we arrived would had warned others.

A Professor friend stayed in this hotel during short-term visit to the University. First night went without incident. On second night, at about 2 am, he was bitten by bed bugs. Thanks to his high sensitivity he jumped quickly out of the bed and left the room. He notified the manager, drove to emergency room (had very severe reaction). In the morning the company came and confirmed the infestation by bed bugs. They sprayed the area and moved the friend to another room. The insurance paid for his medical, though refuses to compensate him for anguish and embarassment and lost days of work. There are pictures and everything is recorded.

Several tenants have moved into apartments not knowing that the apartments are infested with bed bugs and spiders. We've made several reports but was told that we would have to pay for the treatment ourselves, because they are saying that we carried the bugs in ourselves. We didn't have the problem before.

Disney All-Star Movies Resort

Orlando, FL
My daughter traveled to DisneyWorld Resort with her high school drill team and stayed in this hotel. The trip was from March 4 - 8, 2011. Around March 30th is the first we noticed the bugs in her room here at home. This is the only possible place the bugs could have come from as there was absolutely no traveling before this date. She announced to the rest of the drill team that we have discovered bedbugs, but due to the timing (end of school year)by the time we got info and treated our home....school was out. So we don't know if any of the other girls picked up these bugs also. As of today, 6/21/11, we are now having to consult experts for more treatment b/c we did not get rid of the pests with our chemical treatment of them. I will be contacting WDW, but from what I've recently read, they are not owning up to their responsibilty even though there are numerous reports in their surrounding hotels.

Vista Cay
8151 Vineland Ave
Orlando, FL
Room Number: building 5024 room 308
My wife and I are very disappointed to report the very first bed bug experience of our lives (we are aged 59 and 57, respectively) in one of the premier suites at Vista Cay managed by Millenium. First night woke in the morning to find a dark object between us that I assumed was a piece of fluff. It turned out to be a blood, our blood, engorged bed bug! We were at Vista Cay not for a holiday but to attend the American Association for Cancer Research meeting between 2nd and 6th April 2011 so we were really busy from 7am through until late in the evening attending the sessions at the meeting. Consequently we thought little of the incident as at this time we had no symptoms of having been bitten. However, as the week progressed small dark spots appeared on our bedding (bug faecal material i.e. our digested blood) and then by the Wednesday my wife started itching badly at night and the next day there was evidence of her being bitten on the trunk, back, face and arms as an extreme case. These gradually developed into upraised erythematous areas over a 48h period. There was little evidence that I had been bitten at this time but then by the Friday I too developed non-itchy raised red spots that continue to develop as I write this piece. We complained to the management who responded very quickly and confirmed that the evidence for bedbugs was strong and moved us for one night (Friday) to another unit in an adjacent building. They offered us soap powder to wash all our clothes and bleach to clean our cases to avoid transporting this little menacing pest home. The manager who was very courteous suggested that the bugs had been brought in from outside, probably the UK or Germany! His story was not plausible and doesn't stand up to proper scientific scrutiny, I think they are American grown bugs. I suggest that the bedbugs had been resident there long before our arrival and that the management possibly knew that this problem existed and had possibly taken previous steps to cure this problem but our experience showed that their efforts had failed. Apart from this nasty experience the apartment was clean and pleasantly appointed throughout making it a great pity that we had to endure this bad experience. Now that we are back home in the UK we are being super vigilant in fear that we may have brought this little pest home with us. So far so good, mercifully there is no evidence that we have brought anything home, may it stay that way!.

CROSSLAND ORLANDO UNIVERSITY
12350 E. Colonial Drive
Orlando, FL
Room Number: 312
Ive been staying in crossland economy studious for about 1 1/2 yrs never experienced a problem until now. Just started noticing around the beginning of february 2011, I didnt no what they were a first I thought it was a random bug from outside. The weather stripping under the door is pretty old. So anything could have come in. But I did some research on google and found to be a bed bug. Not to many bugs freak me out, the only bug I hate is the roach. But I have seen any of those around here, if you don't prefer bed bugs advise you not to stay at crossland studios. I know one thing, I will be getting a discount for my room. Just wanted to give concerned citizens a heads up. Take care and god bless.

Sunbay Apartments
7000 Aloma AVE
Orlando, FL
As I was moving in my roommate killed a bug thinking it was a beatle. Then I went to sleep that night and woke up with bites all over me. I thought them to be mosquito bites at first. But then I spotted an actual bed bug in the middle of the night crawling on my couch which was in storage wrapped in shrink wrap in a wooden crate. So we reported it immediately. So they brought an exterminator in and he said he had to physically see a bug to treat the place. Which he was unable to find. Then another exterminator came in and although he could not find a bed bug himself. He was able to determine that the bites on my arms were in fact from bed bugs. So he set up a date for extermination. A few hours following this incident, the apartment complex came to me with a bill, saying that we brought them here.

On January 23, 2011 we woke up at the hotel to the sounds of grandma screaming. She was covered in 100's of bedbug bites & her pillow was coated in blood spots. We saw quite a few little bugs & a couple of bigger ones, but there must have been alot more. The hotel staff was very helpful & put us all in another room, while they took all of our clothes & luggage to treat for bedbugs, but we will not be going there again!!!!

Orange Lake Resort / Holiday Inn Vacations
Orlando, FL
WE have a timeshare at Orange Lake resort & the first time we planned a trip there to stay in River Island for 4 days, we spotted blood stains on our sheets the 2nd nite and couldn't figure out where they were coming from!! The next night we didn't see anymore stains after housekeeping cleaned the room, however the next morning we found TONS of tiny blood spots again as well as 3-4 BED BUGS. We took a picture and showed the checkout guy & all he asked was if we had any bites on us that were visible or if we were itching. We didn't have any bites that we could see then so he said that he would let the manager know & housekeeping. It wasn't until that night when we returned back home that i noticed 2-3 tiny little marks on my wrist and began itching like crazy. By the next morning when i left for work i had bite marks in a trail like sequence going all the way up my arm!!!! I went to the doctor & he stated that they were BED BUGS from whereever i had slept recently. I called to report the incident and kept getting the run around stating that a supervisor/manager would call me back soon. 1 wk later someone finally called back but all they did was ask questions and said someone else would be giving us a call back. We submitted several emails & left many voice mails asking for someone to please contact us. It is now December & We just got assigned someone to help us with the incident. I have emailed pics & mailed medical records/bills and statements to orange lake for them to review & now am just WAITING AGAIN for a response. This is a BEAUTIFUL resort & you'd never think that an establishment like that would have BED BUGS! They itch and burn & Hurt & are so embarrassing to have on your body.... PLEASE always double check youe bed's & around them for any signs of these horrible bugs!!!!

Marriott's Grande Vista
5925 Avenida Vista
Orlando, FL
I have a bed bug report for the Marriott Grande Vista Resort. The resort is beautiful. We stayed there on Aug.23rd to Aug.30th. the room was really nice and we went to sleep with no problem. The next morning we had bites all over us. My fiance was bitten over 300 times. he counted mine and I had over 100 bites. That evening we could stand it no longer and went to the manager. We were very discrete as to not call attention to this problem and she said that they would move us and we were to put all of our cloths in the trunk of our rental car. They moved us around midnight and Loss Prevention took a report at 2am. They told us that an outside source would come and inspect the room and let us know the outcome. The next day around 1pm they called us and said there were no bugs. They also told us if we needed medical help it would be at our cost. We went for medical help and since we do not have the same insurance we had to go to two different urgent centers. Funny thing was two different doctors gave the same prognosis..Bed Bugs! We also were prescibed the same meds! We itched so bad. They offered to clean our clothes 3 days later but we declined because they said our belongings would come to us to late for our flight. Funny too..We still had the keys to our old room and we opened the door days later and it was just how we left it, even the tv was still on. Now a maid came to our second room every day but no one cleaned our old room the whole time. If it had no bugs then why didn't they clean the room? We asked their insurance company Liberty Mutual to at least pay our medical and they said no. I have never been treated so bad in my life and I want everyone to know how a large organization like Marriott treats their customers. Hope this helps. maybe the Marriott does not know that we were treated so bad by their staff but if they do, "Shame on You".

Comfort Suites Universal South
9350 Turkey Lake Road
Orlando, FL
We just had a bedbug incident on our first night on this hotel last Sept 2. We were awaken at 4am by hundreds bed bugs all over our beds. We killed most of it but the blood from the insect stained our sheets. We informed the receptionist at once but he told us that the housekeeping services will not be available until 6am. He gave us a new room but we had to wait until 6am. The new room and beds looked like it was bed bug safe and then we went out. Coming back in the afternoon, a large cockroach greeted us at the doorway! We checked our beds again and was happy that it was bed bug free. Thank goodness! But we will not check in this hotel again.

Ramda Inn
6500 International Drive
Orlando, FL
I recently stayed at the Ramada Inn on International Drive June 28-July 4th. My son participated in USA Taekwondo Jr. Olympics at the Orlando Convention Center. When we arrived on the 28th, I immediately inspected our room and found live bedbugs behind the head boards of both beds in the room. I quickly reported this to management, and we were immediately moved to another room in the hotel. Although this room had no bedbugs, the ceiling leaked and it smelled of mold. I did not sleep well at this hotel just thinking the mold, bedbugs, fleas and other insects crawling around in that hotel. We found this hotel through Expedia and heard nothing but good reviews about this Ramada Inn. The hotel doesn't look like the pictures on its website. It's rundown, flea and bedbug infested and in much needed repair to its interior and experior, but the hotel staff are very nice.
