1.Date/Time of Incident June 1-6, 2022 I encountered my worst hotel experience here at the Quality Inn at International Drive. I initially booked my visit for 5 nights from June 1-6, 2022, however, I found that the entire bed I was laying on was infested with bedbugs and roaches on my 2nd night here! How I discovered there were bed bugs – I was laying down with the lights off and browsing through my phone with the blanket covering me, suddenly I see a long thin bug (I am pretty sure it was a roach) crawling and I killed it and went to throw it away. As I came back to the bed and took a closer look, it turns out the whole cover had bugs crawling around! There were some really small bugs (probably baby bed bugs/roaches) and then I saw a large bedbug! As I took pics/recorded videos, I saw a few more slightly smaller bed bugs- I was so disgusted! I immediately packed my belongings and left at 3:06AM in the morning. 2.How did management handle the situation? After staying up all night after I discovered the bedbug infestation, I walked back to Quality Inn in the morning and spoke with someone working in the front telling her my situation and I was informed by her that there is a pest control company coming today or tomorrow to inspect the room (Room 345) and that I would receive a call from the manager once the results are in. I tried calling the hotel multiple times however no one ever picked up, so I walked over to the hotel again on June 6. I asked to speak with the manager and thankfully she came out- she told me that she is the regional manager, and that she would look at my case and give me call after her meeting- which thankfully she did, and she refunded me for 4 nights rather than the 5 nights I initially booked for. Since I was not experiencing any symptoms at the time I spoke with her- my skin was not itchy nor did I see any bite marks- hence I agreed to the refund for 4 nights rather than ask her for a refund for the full 5 nights. However, 7 days later the bedbug bite marks slowly started showing up. It is a known fact that bedbug bite marks may take as long as 14 days to develop in some people- mine took 7 days. I have emailed the hotel requesting for the remaining portion of what I paid and have yet to hear back.
