My husband and I along with our 4 year old daughter and 5 month old son checked into Star Island this past week. After being there for a few days I noticed a bunch of red bumps all over my legs. they looked similar to razor burn. I had shaved my legs the night before so i did not think twice. When i woke Saturday morning with red bumps all over my arms and my legs were 10 times worse i knew we had problems. The area around all the bites were swollen. I picked up the decorative pillows that had been on the bed when we arrived at the resort and came across about 7 fast little suckers running from the seam. i screamed and dropped the pillows. we never saw them again. We pulled the sheets back from the bed and did not see any others. (after some research we should have lifted the mattress.) What we did find on the sheets were tiny black specs. When we tried to brush them off they smeared which apparently is bed bug feces. We also found a couple of eggs. (Which look like tiny white rice) I was completely disgusted. My husband packed our things while I took a 45 min shower trying to get the filth off of mine and my childrens bodies. We went straight to the office and the mgr on duty didnt seem to care. he said they use a pest company and the general mgr will call us. (he did take notes) it has been over 24 hrs and we are still waiting on that call. when we arrived at home we left everything in the car hoping the heat will kill anything that we may have brought home with us.we all stipped naked by the garage door and immediately threw our clothes in the washer. the next morning we unloaded the car and began to sanitize every inch of what would be coming back into our home in fear of those bugs getting into our house. when my husband opened our suitcase, sure enough there was one BIG bug sitting right on top. he went through every piece of clothing to make sure there werent more, put them in plastic bags so i could carry them into the house. i dumped them in the washer and washed each load twice and dried them for about an hour and a half. anything that could be washed in the washer and dried in the dryer went there. everything else was whiped down w/ disinfectant and steamed w/ a handheld steamer. we have been doing this for over 14 hours now and still arent finished. i figure its easier to be safe than spend months trying to get them out of my house. my entire body itches and i am constantly looking for bugs on my body. i feel nasty and HATE the fact that my children had been playing on the bed w/ all their new toys we had purchased from Disney. we were in unit 2154B

Holiday Inn Club Vacations ORLANDO - ORANGE LAKE R 8505 W. IRLO BRONSON MEMORIAL HWY. KISSIMMEE, FL We are new timeshare owners at orange lake resort and the first vacation we booked with them was this past june. We ended up getting Bed Bugs from staying at RIVER ISLAND at OrangeLake Resort. It started by us noticing small blood spots/ stains on the sheets the 2nd nite we were there. we searched the bed and on the mattress were several blood spots also. We changed the sheets & didnt see any bugs nor have a clue what the spots were from. After returning late the next night there were more spots but still no signs of bugs and no bites on us. The next morning when we were getting packed up to check out, we spotted 3-4 little bugs that looked like ticks. We smashed them and alot of blood came out of each of them we then took a picture of one of them on the white sheet to show the guy who checked us out. All he said was "WOW and asked if we were itching or had any noticable bites on our bodies. we replied that we didn't and he said that he would let the manager and housekeeping know about the incident. It wasn't until that night when we returned home that i noticed two -3 small bites on my wrist that started itching really bad. The next morning i had BED Bug Bites in a trail like sequence going all the way up my arm and i was itching like crazy. I went to the doctor that day and they diagnosed me with bed bugs! By the time i got home, my fiancee had them all over her back and stomache also. They spread all over my legs,hands,fingers,stomache & Back. I had to miss 3 days of work to try and get rid of them. We had to buy many creams & medications for the itching & pain. They were sooooo Hosrible looking & itched / burned sooooo bad! not to mention very embarrasing when i was able to return to work as "not contagious anymore" and still had them all up and down my arms/ hands. It took a total of 12 days to completely get rid of the marks / bites on my skin. We called and spoke with a manager at orange lake and got the run around. They kept telling us that someone would get in touch to follow up with us. After leaving many voice mails & emails we finally spoke with someone else who asked alot of questions and said they would be calling us back also. Months later, in November (5months later) when they called to ask about our yearly maintenance fees being due we asked what about the BED BUGS incident that noone has bothered to address with us???? They then got a supervisor on the phone who transferred us to customer care and assigned a person on our case. We emailed all of the pictures and had to mail the medical records / medication forms & slip from doc stating that i had to miss 3 days of work. It's now dec.13th and we are still playing the waiting game!!! I have sent more emails to the person handling our case and still haven't heard anything back. PLEASE BE CAREFUL when staying at any hotels/ resorts and be sure to look on the sheets/bedding and mattress as well as the furniture around the bed for any signs of bed bugs! I wouldn't wish these nasty creatures on my worse enemy!!! It's definitely something you never want to have to go through. Its really a shame that we pay monthly and are considered owners at this resort and are getting treated in this manner, so i can only imagine how they will respond to regular guests who end up getting them also!!

When she woke the following morning her pillow was cover with bed bugs & she was covered in bites. My other daughter in another room also had bites.This home was already reported but we were not aware of it. Management should not have rented this vacation home to us knowingly that there had been a problem with bed bugs.When I tried to get alternative accomomadation I was refused because I mentioned the bed bugs

In particular, one person in our party was sent home from work a week later, as she looked like she had the chicken pox all over. Beds were concealed with bed bug resistant covers.

we stayed at Wyndham Cypress Palms Thanksgiving week. On the last day of our 1 week stay, I noticed a few bites on my leg but thought they were mosquito. I noticed more bites early in the week we returned home. On Friday after we returned home, my husband got out of the shower and announced that he thought we had bedbugs. His legs and feet were covered with bites that were not there before. i was freaked out that we had brought them home and read online that the bites do not show up until 9 days after being bit. We have not seen any signs in our bed but we are spending $200 for a bedbug sniffing dog to come to our house on Friday this week. I called the resort and asked if they had any complaints and was told no. I told them they needed to check the units we were in.

It was a complete nightmare and put a damper on our first Disney trip in years. All week we could not wait to go home because we were never completely convinced that the new unit was free of bed bugs either. 4 months later we discovered that we'd brought them home with us. 1 of our kid's bed was heavily infested and they had begun to spread to the other 3 bedrooms upstairs. It was a nightmare.

Arrived at Westgate Vacation Villas on Saturday 24th September 2011 as guests of Janice Nunn. Got bitten the first night but spots did not start to appear until the night after and at first we thought mosquitoes. However they got worse on myself and we visited a hospital ER where they said it was bug bites or chicken pox. I had been feeling so unwell I thought it was shingles. Following day my husband also developed the rash and the spots were haemorrhaging, joining together and we had to buy long sleeved tops and lotions. We received subsequent bites and then found hundreds of tiny bugs in the pillows and mattress of the bed. The area behind and under our beds had not been cleaned vacuumed or inspected for bugs hence the large infestation. Two visits to ERs later and a hefty prescription for anti histamines we were laid low for the entire holiday. Westgate moved us to a new apartment following the gross discovery but were not very supportive in other aspects.They probably should be developing a policy and training for staff to clean the premises thourougly and to recognise it when they see these creatures. The holiday was ruined.

I went to the dr to confirm, and ultimately had to go to the ER to get treated for excessive itching. This is the wrost kind of bite I've ever had.

Our family checked in at the Clarion Maingate in Kissimmee, FL on September 7, 2011. The hotel seemed like a good location not too far from Disney and near many places to eat. The morning of September 9th, my daugther woke up with bites on her leg and ankle. When I lifted her sheets to sit on her bed and check the bites, I found a large bed bug. I called the front desk and housekeeping immediately came up and confirmed that it was a bed bug (room 421). Immediately, the hotel changed my room to 439, we went out that day and when I got back to the room my daughter did not want to stay at the hotel. To make her feel at ease, I told her that I would check the beds and the room to make her feel better. I check the mattress as well as the box spring and behind the bed board. To my surprise, I found 3 little bed bugs on the box spring. They are so small and easy to miss. I immediately called the front desk extremely upset. I went into my sisters room (room 425) and checked her room. We found 4 on the box spring and 1 on the headboard. They are so small and light in color that you can only spot them in good light aand taking your time to search. They can easily blend in with the fabric unless they move. The hotel just apologized and were not concerned that my daughter was bitten and that our vacation was ruined. At first they claimed that the tiny bugs were roaches. Not sure they roaches in the bed are any better. The front desk then confessed that a few months ago they had bed bugs on one side of the 4th floor and the one side had been closed for a few months to correct the problem. Obviously, they did not take the correct procedure to ensure the infestation was not repeated. The hotel just wanted to continue to offer us other rooms in the hotel, why would they think I would wanted to stay there after seeing bedbugs in 3 different rooms so we left to another hotel.

WE SPENT 13 DAYS IN THIS RESORT, 08.04-08.17. 2011 MY FAMELY WAS BITEN ALL OVER,I HOPE WE DID NOT TAKE ANY BED BUGS TO OUR HOUSE IN LUXEMBOURG. THEY RUINED ALL OUR VACATION, MY CHILDREN COULDN'T GO IN THE SUN ANYMORE, NO MORE PHOTOS WITH PRINCESSES BECAUSE THE BRUISES, PEOPLE LOOKING AT US LIKE LEPREUS. I WANTED TO MOVE BEFORE MOVING IN BECAUSE THE ROAD VICINITY, BUT MY FAMELY WAS HAPPY BECAUSE THE VILLA WAS NEAR THE SWEEMMING POOL. I FOUND THE PLACE VERY DIRTY BUT WE COULDN'T MOVE BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT ANOTHER VILLA AVAILABLE AND MY WIFE HAD TAKEN OFF EVERYTHING FROM THE LUGGAGE. tHE ALL VILLA WAS FULL WITH DUSR, MOLD, (PLASTIC BAG WITH SPECIAL WEMEN CLOTHING VERY SMELLING). THE DOCTOR GAVE US A CERTIFICATE WE HAD TO MOVE TO ANOTHER VILLA, I WANTED TO MOVE AWAY FROM THIS ORRIBLE ORGANIZATION BUT THEY SAYED SOME OTHER VILLAS WERE MORE SAVE BECAUSE THEY WERE REDECORETED. THE NEXT DAY 6.55 MY WIFE WAS SCREMING BECAUSE OTHER KIND OF BUGS.

we arrived may 9th, 2011 after a long trip from germany. after the first night we noticed blood stains in our bed and my husband had a lot of itchy spots on his arms and legs. first we thought it´s moscito-bites, but after the second night there were a lot more and we couldn´t find 1 moscito in our room. the second thought was, it could be an allergy. after some days we decided to go to a dermatologist. he told us it´s maybe bedbugbites.coming back to our room we tried to find them in our bed, which took us 20 seconds. then we went to the front desk and were offered a new room (no charge). this took them several hours. so we moved to the new room and the next morning, I woke up with that itchy, uggly spots on my arms and legs. we didn´t know, if we moved them from one to another room, or if the bites were from the old room.so now I had to go to the doctor and was also on medication. but we were not able to find only one night sleeping thrugh. the manager informed ? and we got a refund for 2 days (lol lol). we stayed 24 days (may09 til june 2nd)and it was the worst we´ve ever been thrugh in a vacation. never again!!!!

'It was the most horrible experience I have ever had in my life!! When we first arrived at the room we notice roaches. The next day after wakening up from our terrible sleep, ( I didn't sleep at all, and neither did my husband.) we noticed blood on our sheets. After taking a closer look at the sheets and blankets, we saw what appeared to be TICKS. Yes, TICKS. My back was so itchy, my body was just not feeling normal. My husband went to the front office and asked to speak to a manager, they came to the room and saw for themselves. They seemed shocked, but honestly I don't think this is the first time this happens. They said we would get a full refund, but that isn't the point. We had to cut our mini vacation short and head back home to St. Petersburg without visiting the Disney parks like I had promised my 2 daughters, age 11 and 7. Thanks a lot. I feel violated and traumatized and very sad something like this happened.

My family and I stayed at Oak Plantation Resort April 16, 2011 to April 23, 2011. We went to Publix for groceries for the unit and went to sleep. My daughter woke up in the morning with blotches to her face, some on her back and some on her chest. I knew it wasn't chicken pox but had no idea why they blotches that looked like bug bites were so I took her over to Centra Care at 2:00pm on Sunday April 17th to be told that it was bug bites. I said, "just great!" The doctor asked where we were staying and when I said, "We have timeshare at Oak Plantation Resort", he informed me to tell them they have bed bugs and this wasn't the first case seen. I was mortified! On Tuesday at 12:45am we took her to Osceola Emergency Room where they quarantined her because they thought it was chicken pox. The bloodwork and culture they took came back negative for varicella virus (found out from her pediatrician on Monday May 2 of the results), meantime Osceola ER doctors gave her medication that made her ill because they gave her Acyclovir 800MG to take 5 times a day for 5 days and Bactrim 800 to take every 12 hours and discharged her stating Cellulitis and Chicken Pox because they had no idea what it was at the time and had 7-8 doctors come in and look at her. She was dicharges at 3:47am. On Monday we went to her pediatrician back here in Long Beach, NY to find out that the Centra Care physician hit it on the head as 'bed bug bites'. Something needs to be done, if people are quiet then Oak Plantation will have people going home with them in their clothing! I REFUSE TO STAY QUIET!!!!

We stayed at this hotel from Dec. 18 through Jan 2, 2010-2011. We stayed in Room 262 and didn't notice any bites until Wednesday, the 29th. My husband started to notice bites on his legs & we were both in denial that we were staying in a bed with beg bugs. I had bites all over my arms. We called the front desk & they were not very friendly with us. The Front Desk person said something to the effect that there may not be another room available to switch to. My husband then asked to get a refund because we just couldn't stay there any longer. We started to look up other hotels but due to the high season, it was either too expensive or simply not available. It was a terrible situation for us. The next day, they switched us to Room 162, & they were not apologetic at all. We only had 2 days left before we were checking out & since we have 2 kids we decided to stick it out or else we would be stuck sleeping in a car. Fortunately, my kids seemed to have slept in the "good" bed, so they were not bitten, but my husband & I slept on the bed closest to the door...we were both bitten, but especially my husband. This hotel is awful!! I want to report them to the Health Department so they can do an inspection on the place.

On September 4, 2010 my husband and I and a group of four traveled to this hotel. It is a timeshare hotel and we had never been at this place. We were setup in two rooms. The rooms were more like apartments very clean and nice. We were in room 712 and our friends in room 505. Since I had a previous experience with bedbugs before coming to this hotel we checked the mattress and everything seemed clear. Around 4am I woke up itching all over and I told my husband the bedbugs are biting me so I turned on the light and they were on his pillowcase and on the bed and the mattress. They moved fast but he killed three it had been feeding on us all night so it was full of blood. They were so disgusting it made us squeamish. Took a shower and packed all our stuff and went to the car because the front desk is closed between 2am-8am. So once it was 8am we went to the front desk to report the bites and I had taken the pictures so I showed them the pictures and they moved us. My husband was bitten all over and this spoiled our trip.
