I've live at IMT Monterey Ranch for three years and on March 21st, I transfered from one apartment to a smaller older unit in the same complex. Two weeks later, my two children (boy 12, girl 6) and my girlfriend were being bitten while they slept at my place. After thinking it was mosquitos or chiggers for a week or two, I decided to do some research and figured out it had to be bedbugs. The apartment manager admitted to having problems with bedbugs and scheduled treatment. The prep sheet I was given from Worldwide Pest Control contradicts itself from page to page as to the process and follow up of the bed bug treatment. When I asked the exterminator questions about the prep sheet his reply was, "Uh, I don't know man, they just changed a lot of this and I'm not sure." I was also told to continue living as normal and that I needed to stay in the apartment so that the bed bugs would continue to have a host and not travel to another unit. Am I supposed to live like this? Am I supposed to be ok with letting my children get chewed on by bed bugs while they sleep?

I stayed at this Holiday Inn from 3/20/12 - 3/22/12 exactly a week later I had bites from my ears down to my waist. After contacting the hotel the manager called and adivsed that the room that i lodged in was infested with bed bugs. He was very polite and extremely sorry, but I still had to deal with the bites and now I'm very worried that I may have transported some to my house.

Dear Sir, As you know, since the second day I moved in, I was bitten by something and had to go to the VA Hospital. Dr. Linda Kullima, my primary care doctor documented the area as red and swollen. We did not know of its origin at the time. But everyday since, I’ve been bitten in the same area over and over to the point of red swollen disfiguration along with the rest of my body. Not ever experiencing this before, I had no idea what was happening. This had happened daily during my two month tenure. I laid down on my bed the24th of January 2012 for the last time, I was attacked so viciously on my neck that I had a deep red rash and burned on my shoulders, arms and back. It had to be bed bugs. By the way, Bed Bugs do not bite you, they suck or gorge themselves on the blood of their host. In Apartment 296, I WAS THEIR HOST FOR TWO WHOLE MONTHS. I BEGGED you to immediately call an exterminator and provide a safe habitat environment as you promised me in our lease agreement. Four or Five days and nights later in hell, you broke the lease. You broke our agreement, and for this – I want off the lease. It is null and void anyway according to Texas Law. You ignored my pleas, you were very callous about it and told me you would only send one out with no relief a whole FIVE DAYS LATER on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 while I slept in a small bathroom. You will testify to this. It’s documented. According to my previous apartment management, I have never asked for any help getting rid of any bed bugs and that there WAS NO BED BUG PROBLEM WHATSOEVER in my previous apartment. I have been with them for 16 months! It had only started when I took up occupancy in your apartment, Mr. Gonzales. Texas Tenant Law states, “ You can’t hold him responsible for any portion of the rent from his remaining lease term, and you may have to pay damages if he brings the matter to court.” Believe me, you re-infestation in Apartment 296 is already starting to begin. You cannot kill bed bugs with chemicals. The eggs remain. The only way to kill bed bugs is with heat. That is why your claimed spraying in 296 before I arrived did not work. It only killed the mature bugs, but not the eggs. It will only be a small matter of time when the bed bugs will come back in the three apartments and mine you sprayed last week. I want out of the lease. You failed to provide me a safe habitat throughout the two months I’ve be here already so you already broke our lease agreement. There are Texas laws that protect me from your form of doing things around here. I’m asking for you to not charge me for this month, let me break the lease. This applies to Tenant Law. The Houston Environment agency asked you to do this. They will be mediating with you about this. I’ve heard they’ve already contacted you. Mr. Gonzales, and I’m sure your disregard for my welfare is documented. I want to go back to an apartment. I saw them today and I told them about the bedbugs and my short two month time with you. Mr. Gonzales, please do ONE nice thing and let me go. Give me a clean bill of health so I can get this apartment. I’ve done nothing but have been honest and treated you according to how you treated me. Please let me break the lease. You want me to vacate! Just let me vacate to another apartment. Do you deserve to make me live on the streets or some getto? Is that what you want? Really? I’ve been as a good a tenant as one could be under these terrible circumstances. PLEASE LET ME OFF THE LEASE AND DON’T CHARGE ANYTHING EXTRA LIKE THE TENANT LAW STATES. PLEASE? I don’t want to but I’m willing to take this farther, and you might want to consider your management overseeing this might not be in your favor nor in their best interests.

We moved into these apartments in May of 2011, and within 1 month all of our stuff was INFESTED with bedbugs and fleas. We checked with our neighbors and they also had the same bite marks that we did. When informing the management company they told us that we were responsible to pay a $75 dollar fee to have the exterminator come as they did not cover bed bugs. This was inbetween them loosing an agreement with their current exterminator and hiring a new company. Meanwhile we were getting bitten and had to go and sleep in a hotel. When the exterminator finally came 2 weeks later, he said you can not treat bedbugs and that we should throw away our mattress. We immediatley moved out and broke our lease. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there are much nicer options out there. This apartment is full of MEth Heads and drug addicts who rome around at night. One of our neighbors was beaten up in the parking lot by girls because she asked them to get out of the handicap parking spot. There is limited or no parking in the complex and I would beware of anything related to this place.

My neighbors and I have been chewed on since the beginning of spring. First management denied the problem all together, then the blame game went on. All the while, furniture was being thrown out. I threw my bed away and the effers found me on my couch. Management told me to throw my couch out as well. When asked what they were going to purchase for me to sleep on, they had no response. Here it is late September, I'm still spraying with spray I had to purchase on my own and still being bit almost every night. We have sprayed and spayed and they continue to be found.

NOW THEY ARE EVEN WORST THAN BEFORE WE CANT EVEN STAY THERE AND FOR THE THIRD TIME TO THE MANAGEMENT AND SHE SAYS WE TOLD HER WE GOT THEM AFTER GOING TO THE BEACH AND STAYING AT A HOTEL, THATS A LIE WE HAVENT HAD THE MONEY TO TAKE A VACACTION OR STAY AT A HOTEL. SO THIS TIME SHE GAVE A CHECKLIST OF THINGS THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE BEFORE PESTCONTROL CAME TO SPRAY...WHY DID SHE GIVE US THE LIST NOW? MAYBE BECAUSE THEY NEVER DID SPRAY THE TIMES BEFORE, AND OBVIOUSLY SOMEONE ELSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND TOLD HER THYE HAD WENT TO A HOTEL BUT IT WASNT US. THE BED WAS TURNED AND COUCHES FLIPPED BUT GUESS WHAT A IM STILL GETTING BIT, AND WORST OF ALL MY MAN DOESNT GET BIT BUT HIS DAUGHTER DOES TOO SO NOW WE NEED TO FIND A WAY OUT OF THERE

We have been dealing with bed bugs for 2 months now..the management company has taken zero responsibility other than to hand us two store bought foggers. We have had to throw away most of our furniture and put the rest of our belongings in storage. There have been several reports of bedbugs in the complex, yet, we are being treated like we brought them in..(management actually made that statement when I was pleading for resolution). Management also had to be directed to a bed bug website by us as they didn't know that bed bugs can live on wood, travel through electical sockets or many other facts. Stay away from this complex!!

I checked the mattress when i checked in but did not see anything except some lint. Then saw a tiny bug but couldn't tell what it was. I went to sleep and woke up to a medium sized one biting me. I asked to be moved to another room, when I checked that mattress before moving my stuff in, there was a huge squashed one on the mattress pad. I left and they gave me a refund.

We had planned to stay for 7 days. After three days we left at midnight in search of a reasonable hotel. Here is a laundry list of complaints: ROACHES x 5 – If we killed 5 in our room in a short period of time that means the hotel is overrun with them! ! ! ! Trash under the bushes outside – beer cans – glass Cigarette butt on floor in Non smoking room. Lots of Mold on Shower curtain Exterior door didn’t have a handle & the other doesn’t lock at all First morning- No milk, syrup, creamer, - Bad breakfast Had to call 3 times over a period of 4 hours to get 2 pillows - - Room service SUCKED We were offered a different room that was smaller, falling apart & had a water leak. The hallways smelled like an ashtray. The pool was nasty Staff could not answer basic questions about room rates when making reservations This place should be fumigated & torn down! ! ! ! ! ----It was a major inconvenience to move but we felt we had no other choice. We are still trying to get a refund. (we paid for a week & the manager - Anell offered us $100 refund and 4 free nights if we would come back) UNACCEPTABLE! The manager should be fired! She refused to give me the # for her boss then would not return any calls. Liar & Rude - - -

Apartment answer for this was to treat each apartment as they occur ,instead of whole bldg., thus forcing them to migrate from one apartment to another

I checked into the Super 8 Motel at 5606 E 51st Street in Austin TX on 2/23/2011 at 1:30am. The room felt dirty, and I know how to look for beg bugs, so I pulled back the mattress pad to look. I immediately noticed small black specks on the mattress which I know is a sign of bed bugs, so I pulled the mattress pad back farther and sure enough there were three bed bugs on the mattress!! I took pictures and grabbed my stuff and went to the front desk. When I told the person working at the desk that there were bed bugs in the room he didn't want me to show him, he just told me he would give me a refund. EW!!!!!

Staff was not friendly or helpful. I did not sleep in the room, and I lost my money on the reservation, as they did not offer a refund or anything.
