We checked into the Towneplace Suites in Mid August. The stay was intended to be only a couple of weeks, but had to be prolonged due to the delay in the closing of the house that we are intending to buy. For the first couple of weeks, my mother kept complaining of rashes on her hands and legs. We did not even suspect bed bugs. As a side note, this place has the worst housekeeping policies EVER. They do a refresh service for the room for 2 days in a week, and one full cleaning one day of the week. The 2 refresh services did not include changing the bed sheets or vacuuming the room. The manager claims though that it is supposed to include vacuum. But the housekeeping manager insisted what a 'tough cookie' she was in not allowing any vacuum or sheet changing during refresh service. Out of the 4 times that our sheets were changed, we had to call front desk in the night to ask them to give us a fresh set of sheets due to the unsightly 'you-know-what' stains on the sheets. I cannot believe how the housekeeping lady who changed the sheets could not have noticed SUCH big stains. Anyway, that story aside, due to the poorly maintained rooms, we thought it was just some allergic reaction to the sheets that were not well washed and sanitized. It wasn't until we started seeing huge rashes on my 8 month old son that we started paying attention. The maintenance guys came to check out the bed and DID find bed bugs and immediately switched us to the next room. Things went from bad to worse. Now my little one was COVERED with rashes and bumps all over him. And the best part is he doesnt even sleep on the hotel bed, but uses the crib that they had provided, and the bed bugs had infested that too. We spoke to the manager (Brian) who was apologetic, and sais that he would act on it and get in touch with his manager. My son was treated with topical creams by the pediatrician since he is so little and cannot take anti-histamines. He has been so restless and crying due to these rashes. If the adults suffer due to bug bites, I cannot imagine what a little thing like him must go through especially since he cant even tell us how it feels. We moved out last Sunday (9/12/10) and we still have not heard from the manager. We COMPLETELY sanitized every piece of toy, clothing and anything that bed bugs could get onto at our own cost. We are statying at another hotel and we are ok now. But this experience was unforgettable. Irresponsible staff that do not care for their customers - this is not what I expected out of a marriott.
