I stay weeks at a time with my current job and check thoroughly for bed bugs when I check in. As usual, I found no evidence and unpacked my things on Sunday night. I saw a tiny little thing crawling on one of the pillows, but it looked to be more the size of a gnat and so I thought nothing of it. Thursday morning (4/7/11) I woke up with blood smeared on my pillow and found a squashed bug body. My colleagues and I couldn't positively say it was a bed bug, but I was unnerved so I checked again and again. I couldn't find any concrete evidence that there had been bed bugs (no feces, etc.). The very next morning (Friday 4/8/11) I jump out of bed and see a live bed bug on my pillow trying to scurry away, leaving little poos behind it (and trust me I had done enough research to know what they look like). I called the front desk and brought it to them in a plastic bag and they said they would make sure the issue was dealt with. When I came back that afternoon they tried over and over to claim it was a tick, yet they had already gotten rid of the evidence. I see ticks every day in the line of work I do and I could not be any more certain that it was NOT a tick.
