I always check upon entering a hotel room, but it was quite late and we'd had a long day so we just immediately went to sleep. I woke in the morning to find 2 bugs crawling on my arm. I've never seen bedbugs except in pictures but guessed that is what they were. I ran and got my husband out of the shower and together we tore the bed apart but found no more bugs and no signs of infestation, just blood spots where I had lain and been bitten. My husband went and got the manager while I stood under a hot shower trying not to scream. The manager said he had never seen bedbugs but didn't think that is what they were because they cleaned very carefully. He apologized for us being upset, said he wasn't authorized to give us a refund but would tell the owner and they would contact us. The minute we got home I soaked our clothes, shoes and overnight bag in alcohol and put them in the dryer on high for 3 cycles as a precautionary measure against bringing them into our home. My husband called the owner the next day and he had not been told of the incident but did say he would send us a complete refund. It's been just over 5 days and we are still waiting. My husband doesn't appear to have been bitten at all but just yesterday welts started showing up on the arm I found the bugs on and it seems I may be one of the people who are sensitive to them because they are getting progressively worse. It will be months before I can be fully sure that we didn't carry them home with us and much longer for me to be comfortable staying in a hotel again. I seem to have lost more than just a few dollars on the horses that weekend, I have lost my sense of security and well being.

I found adult and second-stage bed bugs last week (6-9-11) in room 175 shortly after entering the room.... one crawled across the pillow. I then checked under the matress and found many others... found them also crawling on the busy bedspread and saw a final one on a lounge chair on my way out of the room. When I went to the front desk to check back out and get a refund, the clerk didn't act surprised at all when I told him that there were bed bugs. It didn't occur to me to get pics, I was too wigged out... this was my first time ever seeing them.
