Fort Lauderdale, FL

I have only been in the apartment about 2 months. When I first moved in I saw a lot of roaches and they promised to take care of it, but of course we still have them. To add insult to injury about a month ago I started having server itching attacks that would wake me up in the middle of the night, followed by numerous bite marks in the morning. Being that I have never lived with roaches I thought I was having an allergic reaction to the roaches WRONG!. To my surprise last night as usual I was up scratching and I saw a very small black spot on the sheet or what I thought was a spot until it begin to move. I jumped up grabbed a shoe and attempted to kill it, but it continued to crawl. I immediately got up and went online to find out what in the hell was eating me alive, and behold there it was a picture of what I had just seen in my bed a BEDBUG. I have been trying to contact me rent office but they are not responding, which seems pointless being that they cant get rid of roaches I'm sure I'm not going to have much luck with my bed bug problem.

Me and my girlfriend was staying at this hotel for 2 months and it was the worst hotel i had been at all of my life- We were atacked from BED BUGS TWICE and the result of that was that we must to go a doctor ,take medecines for 10 days and huge expenses about cleaning all of our clothes-must be sealed for 4 days and after that must be washed with hot water ,and we have no clothes for 5 days . The Manager of the hotel was SO ROUGH to us after we made a complain from the Bed Bugs and said that OR WE NEED TO CHANGE THE ROOM AGAIN ( we already did that 3 times and got bitten) OR WE NEED TO LEAVE THE HOTEL AND IN THIS CASE THEY WILL NOT GIVE US MONEY BACK.

As I sit here with Caladryl on my face, arms, legs, and hands, I regret my whole stay and wish that I had my money and health back. I checked in last Thursday and aside for the basic annoyances of an older hotel, I had no real complaints. But, when I saw the shadow image of a bed bug last night on my iPad on Friday night, the damage was already done. My body was covered with what I thought were mosquito bites the very next morning. Wrong! Now I have over 30 bites on my legs, hands and arms. The gestation period is 8-9 days so I'm right in schedule. I called the staff to report the issue today. The front desk apologized and asked for my number so that it could be reported to the general manager.

Fort Lauderdale, FL

I stayed in room 213 once in 2011 and twice in 2010 (did not asked for it, was just given that room when I reserved the room). The 3 times I had my legs covered by bed bug bites. My last stay (end of March), I got seriously bitten and due to my allergy predisposition, my skin reaction were huge. Franck. I did not report that to management since... I did not know what bed bug were. I thought that I was bitten by mosquittos. I just check on several web sites and when I saw bed bugs bite pics, it is now obvious that this is what I got.

Once the bride gets back in the country, she will be contacting the GM. Ugh...such a beautiful hotel, with such flithy beds!

I have stayed at Extended Stay Hotels throughout the Mid-West and South, but have NEVER had this problem before...
From the beginning of my stay, I noticed that I had been itching and scratching my legs, and the back of my neck. Well, I thought it was just some friendly Florida Mosquito bites, but I was painfully wrong...
On the night of December 16, 2010, after returning to the hotel from a long night of teaching, I sat on a chair, at the desk, next to my bed to type some documents on my laptop (which sat on the bed). As I reached over to move the pillow, I noticed a small brownish object on the inside opening of my pillow, that I thought was lint, but when I looked closer, I noticed that the object was moving!!!
Upon closer inspection, I saw this ugly little flat, brown bug, that I finally killed, after 3 swats with my shoe. Since I was online, I Googled it and found the dead bug’s twin brother on a website about "bed-bugs…"
I scooped it up, put it in an Excedrin bottle, and called the hotel desk. When I showed the Hotel night auditor what I had, she said that I should move to another room, that night, but not to take anything with me...
I told her that this was the worst possible time, because I was scheduled to fly to NYC the morning, and I had to take some clothes and a suite case with me.
Well, the night auditor assigned me to another room for the night, and told me to see the Manager in the morning.
Once in my new room, I was not comfortable at all. However, I could not get another Hotel for the next 7 hours, before the Manager was set to arrive at the property. I knew that I was going to have a restless night, because I now had to worry about what was going to happen to all of my things in the Hotel room. I was scheduled to be gone for 2 weeks, starting the next morning…
On Friday December 17, 2010, the morning I was set to leave for NYC, I began gathering a few well-inspected items from my “new room” that I could take with me, on my trip. As I began putting my clothes on, someone knocked on the door. It was two of the maintenance men, wearing rubber gloves. One of them said, "Hey I heard you were having problems with the water in this room…" I told him it wasn't a "water problem," it was a “bed-bug problem,” and the problem was in my original room suite# 205, not the room where I was temporarily placed. He and the other man then left.
As I walked down the hall, with a few things to place in my car, on my way to the airport, I saw the two maintenance men leaving out of my original suite #205. I went to the car, and they went to talk with the manager.
When I came back into the hotel, I spoke with the manager (Diane) and gave her the bed-bug that I had killed. She assured me that everything would be taken care of. I told her that I would be gone for 2 weeks and she said that she would call the pest control company and her corporate office, then get back with me an a few days. Again, Diane assured me that she would “personally place my clothes and other items in plastic bags and that no one else would be allowed in my room… She also told me that I would not be charged any money for 2 weeks for my room, if they found evidence of bed-bugs…
When Diane called me back, she said that the pest control company had come in and found NO evidence of bed-bugs… I noticed that her attitude was a little different, this time, also. Whereas before she was concerned and apologetic, now she was a little accusatory and curt… She said that I would be charged for the time that I was gone. I told her that that was fine, but I wanted the room exterminated. She said that there was no evidence so they would do nothing at all. She said the pest control company examined the insect and determined that it was, "a dead, adult, bedbug…".
Now, I find it extremely difficult to believe that I found, caught, and killed the ONLY bed-bug, at the Hotel! Do these people think that customers are just stupid? Even though I did not accuse her or anyone at the hotel of trying to “cover-up” the issue, I'm sure that covering it up, is exactly what they are trying to do, because Fort Lauderdale Florida is in it’s "High Season" for hotel rentals…
What I can't understand is why they didn’t even bother to use this 2 week period, while I’m gone, to at least exterminate the suite… I’m scheduled to go back to the hotel, in a few days, and I can only hoe that my personal belongings have not been infested. I’ve got to get the hell out of there!!!
I'll keep you posted.
Dr. Michael
