We were in the process of driving states away with pets for a move, and decided to stop here on August 27th at around 9pm since it was along I-80. Check-in was super easy, and the front desk employee was super helpful. After we had unpacked and started to settle into the room, my partner found a bed bug crawling on one of the beds. He immediately killed it and took photos, and we were disgusted. I was in the middle of taking a shower when he discovered this, and when I needed to dry off, the towel I grabbed was filthy and just fully covered in short black hairs sticking straight out. We packed up all of our stuff in record timing, grabbed our pets immediately, and went down to the front desk to explain the situation. The front desk employee went up to the room, agreed what we found was a bed bug, and even took pictures of our pictures to send to the manager. The employee helped look for additional bed bugs, but I think we got lucky with just the one. The employee said it may have come from under the door from the conjoining room, so there wasn't a full infestation in our room just yet. The employee was super cool and helpful, and since I had booked through Capital One Travel, they directed me to initiate a refund through Capital One. We immediately left and had to search for/book another hotel, as well as inspect all of our stuff and pets for bed bugs. I called Capital One Travel a few days later, but since I didn't know the name of the manager or the front desk employee, they weren't able to initiate the refund until I got the names. Once we finished our drive to our destination, I emailed the property to attempt to figure out a refund, but got no response. I called the hotel asking for the names of the manager and the employee, and the person on the phone gave me the employee's name, but would not provide the manager's. They instead said the manager would "call me back to discuss the situation", which never happened (shocker). I managed to find her name on Google and called Capital One Travel back in an attempt to finally initiate a refund. The Capital One Travel representative then reached out to the property, but needed the manager's approval for the refund. They were making this representative jump through hoops and wait just for the manager to NOT approve the refund. Why? I have no idea since they are aware of the disgusting situation. So here I am, ghosted by the hotel's poor management, down $136, and attempting to get a refund on a hotel room with bedbugs that we didn't even sleep in. Just stay in Omaha, don't bother staying here unless you want a filthy room and possible bed bugs.
