We were checked into the Surfside Resort room 122C on Sunday August 2, and after sleeping a few hours my wife woke just before 2:00am to use the bathroom. Right after she was reading her Kindle to get back to sleep when she noticed a small bug on the green bed cushion. I took a detailed photo of the bug, as well as an enlargement. The image has the date and time stamp showing that it was taken early this morning around 2:00am; you can inspect the date and time using your phone or computer image viewing apps. The Apple iPhone photo app also shows that the image was taken at the location of the Surfside resort (location data is automatically recorded for each photo that is taken). We both realized that we wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep in the same bed, so we wrapped our luggage and items in trash bags, left our keys in the mail slot at the main office which was closed for the night, and drove 2 hrs home to Portland, arriving at around 4:30am. There was not an emergency number to call, so we called the office and left a voicemail message about this while we were driving home (around 2:30am), and about 9:00am the next morning Kai from the hotel office called me and we spoke about this. She said that after hearing our message their maintenance and cleaning crew inspected the room but they did not find any sign of bedbugs. When I asked Kai about a refund, she declined but suggested that I send the photo to this email for her to inspect. After we sent the detailed photos, the manager wrote us back to tell us they inspected the room and didn't find any evidence of bedbugs. So they refused our request for a refund. We have very detailed pictures that I can send as well. I wasn't sure how to attach them to this report. This was pretty upsetting and ruined the rest of our trip (we were going to spend most of the next day in the northern OR coast). We have also spent a lot of time inspecting our luggage and items (currently bagged) for signs of bedbugs, to make sure we don’t bring any home to our house. We are now having to keep our items in plastic bags in order to prevent bringing any other bugs home.
