Check in on June 20, 2026 at 10:30pm. After entering the room, we left for 1 hour and upon returning found a live bed bug on the bed. The office had closed at 11pm and the phone number to a neighboring hotel was posted on the door in case of issues after hours. No one answered on first attempt to call this number but on the second attempt a staff member took down a message for the management of the Sunrise Beach Motel. The following morning we called the front desk after a night sleeping in the car to ask for a refund for the room ($70 booked though Expedia). The staff member said the manager had stepped out and would return my call later. After 4 hours I called back again and was told they would not issue a refund despite us having pictures and leaving a dead bug in plain view on the white bed sheets. After leaving a negative Google review a staff member responded with an unintelligible remark containing a slur towards little people
