1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.

Checked in on Thursday, June 13th. First assigned to 520, but found a lot of bedbug excrement under the mattress cover (pull-off cover, not a full zip) in the pleats of the mattress, on both sides. No live bugs seen. I called and asked for a change of room, which they were very nice about. Unfortunately, when I checked the second room (420), there were even more visible signs. I saw egg casings, parts of dead bugs, and more excrement, all under the mattress cover, and all around the mattress. I called down again (extremely awkward, but I couldn't see another option), and they agreed to change my room, as well as have the manager and another employee come up and take a look. I showed them the evidence of bugs, and they were very polite about it, although they didn't seem urgently concerned. The final room we got (620) seemed fine. There was some grainy 'sand' looking substance under the mattress pad, but only at the very top of the mattress on the piping. It's a beach hotel, so I crossed my fingers. We stayed for two nights and didn't have any bites, thankfully. Even so, I wouldn't go back, after having to change rooms multiple times (which I have never done before.) Just a note: Staff was very kind, and did not give me a hard time. I've never had a hotel employee or manager openly accept that they had a bedbug issue on the property, but I do wish that when it happened, they would at least express a plan to fumigate and otherwise deal with any potential issues. I have only had to change hotel rooms three times in the past 10 years, but it's always worth checking, and enduring the potential discomfort of expressing your concerns to management. *Nothing* is worth getting bedbugs.
