5/23/2025 We booked a 2 night stay at Ardendales. It is a old historic home used as an Inn. Upon arriving we inspected our room, of which we did see 2 bugs on a pillow that we assumed may have been termites. We removed the bugs and flushed them down the toilet. The second night we noticed a bunch of smaller round brown/red bugs crawling around our pillows. We got out of bed and flipped the pillows around to find more bugs crawling of different sizes. We learned there are maturity stages in bed bugs. We had a 2 room suite joined by a bathroom. We were staying in the king bed where we noticed the bugs first. We inspected the queen bed and discovered small bugs on the other bed as well. We could not stay in those conditions. Packed up our belongings and left at nearly midnight and drove 3.5 hours home. We tried notifying the host and we did not hear back from him after trying to contact him via phone calls and text several times. We sent a final messages advising him we were going to take action with our credit card company to stop the payment and at that point the host sent a text apologizing for our experience and said they would take it seriously and refund us. Several days after our one night stay I have developed welts on my arms and legs where I have been bit by the bugs. I hope they take the proper professional steps to decontaminate the rooms. We do have pictures of the bugs in the rooms upon request if needed.
