Bedbug Reviews

Anonymous

Saturday August 19, 2023 checked in approximately 9:25 pm MST after entering lobby to inquire about vacancies. Front desk clerk (female) and owner/operator stood behind desk. I was informed there was only one room left and that the rate was $219.24 after taxes and fees for one person/one bed/one night. I entered the room, placed my bags on the bed, emptied partial contents into bathroom counter and then placed the bags on the floor close to the bed as I was leaving for a few minutes to walk next door to convenience store to purchase snacks. Returned to room #50 approximately 20 minutes later. Turned light on and noticed light bulbs missing. Room was dark and dingy with all available lighting turned on. I recognized a smell to sometimes be associated with bedbugs from past experiences. I pulled one top corner of blanket down about one foot, proceeded by the sheet corner and then the mattress cover corner until the top corner of mattress was exposed. I immediately saw evidence of bed bug activity and began to document it by taking pictures and video. I inspected the rest of the mattress and pillows and saw bed bugs evidence on the entirety of bed space; in pillow top crevices, seams, stitching, headboard/frame. I then attempted to wash myself as well as I could, gathered all of my belongings, quarantined all belongings that weren’t necessary for my drive back to Wyoming and placed them on the cleanest towel I could find in the middle of the floor. I then proceeded to the front desk to inform them of the issue. At this time it was the night shift employee (male) on duty alone. This was approximately 4:30 am. I informed clerk I needed a refund; that I got no sleep due to the stress of situation and not being able to get onto the bed out especially under sheets. He told me he was very sorry, that he would have to ask his boss whenever he came back on duty. Clerk was not positive when his boss would be back. I requested boss’s name and phone number and I then wrote my name, phone number and email address on paper and gave to clerk who stated he would make sure to relay message and info to the boss. He stated boss would email me, then said maybe boss would call me instead and then said that I might want to call the motel in a day or two to ask for boss. Instructions were vague and unclear. I requested garbage bags to “safely” contain the rest of my belongings which were still back in room #50 so that I could transfer them to my vehicle with minimal transfer of bug bodies, casings, larvae or fecal matter to my van or to my home. Clerk gave me a garbage bag and informed me it might take up to 7 days to get a refund since I paid for the room with a debit card. I am awaiting contact from the owner/operator and if he does not contact me by the end of today 08/20/23, then I will be attempting to contact him by any means possible. I am insisting on a full refund of the room charge plus taxes and pet fee and may be requesting compensation for any belongings that may possibly get ruined in the sanitizing process of my bags and travel items here at home within the next two days. Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to read my report. Bed bug infestations are rather serious, extremely transferable, difficult to eradicate and the cause of much stress, anxiety and health issues for too much of the public. I believe this occurs because businesses, employees and the general public do not find it necessary to take seriously or may possibly just not be informed of the repercussions of negligence. Please take my requests within my detailed report seriously. I greatly appreciate it.
