On Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 we checked into our hotel room at around 9pm. We checked the room for bedbugs, in corners of the bed, under sheets, cushions, and mattress and did not immediately find anything. 30 minutes after getting into bed I began to itch badly on my side and arm. I told my husband and asked for him to look for bumps on my side as I already had them on my arm. He looked and proceeded to check the bedding again. On top of the sheet and under the red comforter there was a dead bedbug. I had noticed a few red spots on the sheets that I assumed were lint from the red comforter until I did more research after finding the dead bedbug, that bedbugs in early stages can be tiny and red. We immediately gathered our things, left the room, notified the hotel attendant at the front desk and he said we would receive a refund within 5 to 7 business days. We had to drive 40 minutes to another hotel, immediately shower and begin washing all of our laundry and shoes.
