On 5/7/22 at 5pm we joined family members at the WorldMark Indio who had been staying at the hotel for a few days already. It was a 3 bedroom unit and we stayed in a previously unoccupied single queen room. After the first night I noticed a dime sized blood stain on the sheets that had not been there when I went to sleep. I thought that maybe I had a slight bloody nose or scratched myself that night. The next morning there was new blood stain near the foot of the bed and after closer inspection found a bite on my leg, multiple small blood stains and dead bed bug in the sheets. I started pulling linens and the mattress and found 8 live bed bugs as well as molted exoskeleton and excrement stains in the crevasses of the mattress and bed skirt. I took photos to document all of this. Hotel staff were alerted and we were moved to another room. We were told to wash our clothing in hot water and the insurance claim would be filed and we would be provided with that information. There was no further contact from hotel staff. We inspected the beds in the new room closely, and while there was a need for deep cleaning behind and under the beds, no bed bug evidence was found.
