Stayed at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa from 12/19/21 - 12/22/21: During my stay, I kept seeing black spots on my bed and nightstand, but I didn't question it at first. The morning of my check-out (Dec 22nd), I woke up to many more black spots. These spots were all over my pillows, sheets, and nightstand. When I touched them, they melted in my fingers and smeared like ink. I Googled what I was seeing, and found out these were bed bug feces. I called the front desk and asked for a refund. They offered to move me to another room to resolve the issue, but I told them I was leaving today. They said I had to wait 1-2 days for an exterminator to come and examine the room before they determined my refund. So, I took pictures of the droppings on my bed and nightstand. (Also, my mattress was exposed. It did not have a mattress protector, only a plush sheet and regular sheet overtop.) Before leaving the hotel, I talked to the cleaning staff manager and showed him the pictures, immediately assumed I had worn black clothes to bed and asked if I did. I did not, but he continued to say that it must be “lint” from my clothes or “crumbs” from food. My mom and I offered to go with him to my room to show him what we saw, but he refused and sort of shooed us away and said he would handle it. I went back to the room and collected bed bug feces samples before leaving. I didn't want the cleaning staff to clean everything before the exterminators went in. After checking out at around 11am, I left 3 voicemail messages with The Catania Hospitality Group about my bed bug problem at the Cape Codder. My calls have still not been returned. At around 2pm on Dec 22nd, I received a call from the Cape Codder and was told that the exterminators found nothing and that it was “lint” and “food crumbs”. They tried to assure me that the exterminators did their job correctly, and told me I would not receive a refund. How the hotel treated my concern was unacceptable and they need to be held accountable. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this. And I can assure you, I will never stay at the Cape Codder again.
