Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Sidney, OH, on Saturday, October 2, 2021. The hotel is fairly new and seemed nice and clean. But in the middle of the night, I woke with a bed bug on my face! We pulled the bed away from the wall and there were a few live bugs and several tracks on the bed frame, under the headboard of the mattress. We showered, and checked out at 4 am. The night clerk said he could just give us a discount, and he'd have the manager contact us. 2 days later, we had no contact so I called the hotel and spoke to the manager. She confirmed there was "activity" and gave us a refund. But we had to be very careful and clean/heat treat all of our belongings.
