Bedbug Reviews

I have to start by saying that I used to love Hampton Inns. I traveled a bit for work and I would always make sure to get a room at a Hampton Inn, and since I've been traveling with family, it's the same thing. Over the last year, I've noticed a steady decline. After my stay last week in the Hampton Inn in Galax, I can say I will NEVER stay in one again. My family (husband and two toddlers) checked in Thursday the 10th of June. The front desk person was very pleasant and quick. Once in our room, it seemed okay, until you started taking a closer look in the bathroom. Dirt and grime in the corners and then the dreaded hairs near the sink. We all settled in and were asleep quickly...until around 1:30. I woke up to find bed bugs crawling all over our beds! I worked in senior living for quite some time, including during the mid 2000's when bed bugs were everywhere, so I am very aware of what a bed bug looks like. They were literally crawling in our sheets and on our pillows. I even caught two in the plastic wrapped coffee cups to show the overnight front desk person (who was very apologetic and helpful BTW). What's been even worse than waking to bugs crawling on you in the middle of the night is the response I've received from the hotel. Hilton has given me no response at all, and the hotel Owner/General Manager responded by saying, "Thank you for taking the time to complete our on-line survey regarding your recent stay at our hotel. I am very sorry for the issues you encountered at our hotel. The room has been checked for bed bugs and 403 did not have any." He also said they had someone go in and look and "spray". If you have done any research on bed bugs, you know you can't really spray for them (unless you spray the bug itself). We were still charged for the room that we woke up to bugs crawling on us. Not even one bit of compensation, and the response was very patronizing. Be warned that the standards Hampton Inns used to have are not there, and if you've recently stayed in room 403...you stayed in a room with bed bugs.
