Bedbug Reviews

If you are going to take time to read a single review, I hope this is the one you read. I will never in a million years recommend anyone to stay at this site. Upon checking in, the staff was friendly. That’s about where the good aspects of the stay end. Checked in to our cabin and got set up with a fire and unloaded belongings into the cabin. We decided to wrap up early and get a good night of sleep. Boy were we wrong! We slept in the cabin and woke up to over A HUNDRED bites on our bodies. Initially thinking we had mosquitos in our cabin, we quickly realized that mosquitos don’t bite in 15 consecutive spots. Then we realized we encounter what everybody fears when they go to stay at a hotel or anywhere besides their own home.... BED BUGS. We began tearing the bed apart and found a couple of bugs that we took pictures of. We had welts on our bodies, had to get rid of all of our belongings that we had brought in, our food for the weekend, and had to go purchase all new things as we were hours away from home. We had called the reservation office to let them know what had happened. They told us somebody would be down to our cabin to check it out, no one showed up. We went to the office and showed them pictures and said we wanted to be refunded immediately. They had asked for us to step outside for the conversation since they operate a business and have customers they are “catering” to. We cooperated, but I regret doing so. If I was checking in that day, I would have wanted to know what the true condition of the place was. We were refunded for our stay, given trash bags to throw out our belongings after having to ask multiple times for them, and offered a free meal from the chef (who happens to be the guy in charge of overseeing the cleaners!) which we respectfully declined. We left with nearly none of our belongings we showed up with because we didn’t want to bring the problem home with us. A few days later, I called the office and asked to speak to one of the owners. He wasn’t in at the time but he called me back to hear me out. I let him know the full impact of our terrible stay. - clothes that we had to throw away - food that we had to throw away - the cost of another hotel to stay at - purchasing new clothes to wear since we had nothing - cleaning our cars - medical costs - missed days at work due to extreme discomfort The list goes on and on. Rich told me he wanted to make sure he handled this in an amicable way and was genuinely sorry about our awful experience. He asked me to detail everything in an email and send it over to him. I did so the following day. I detailed the full impact and associated costs. RADIO SILENCE. I didn’t hear from Rich, not even to acknowledge that he had received my email. One of his reservation employees was the only one to respond to me to say she’ll make sure the owners see it and respond. Well they never did. So I began calling, on a daily basis, because I wanted to make sure the owners were taking action. Finally after maybe 15 or so phone calls, I finally got through to Rich and he said I can’t just expect this to be handled over night. I said I understood that things like this take time, but that I wanted to be kept informed of the status of the claim he apparently processed with his insurance company. We had agreed on weekly updates and I asked for a written confirmation of the documentation he sent to his insurance company. I never received the written documentation and two weeks went by with no Wednesday updates from Rich. We had stayed at the cabin at the beginning of August 2020 and I have had no cooperation from Rich or the other members at Granite Hill. I am now planning to get lawyers involved and share my experience on social media in hopes that no one else has to go through this experience. It was genuinely one of the worst weekends I’ve experienced and the lack of respect being shown by the owners is astounding.
