I stayed at MADE Hotel from Wednesday, November 20th - Friday, November 22nd. 2019. I'm urging anyone reading this to not stay at this place. I was bitten by bed bugs during my two nights stay here, and the staff I've spoken to since then has unfortunately been very unresponsive and uncaring. I'm in NYC quite often for business, but this happened to be my first time staying at MADE Hotel. I was there for two nights, and it seemed just fine during my short stay -- sure, the walls were thin and the beds were short (I had a room with two doubles although I was alone), but it's NYC. There's not much you can do about that. However, two days after I left, I developed multiple red, itchy welts all over my arm, hands, and foot. Upon seeing these, I booked an urgent appointment with my dermatologist, who then took one look at me and immediately asked if I had stayed at a hotel recently. She confirmed at once and definitively that I had been exposed to and bitten by bed bugs. On top of spending hundreds of dollars for my 2-night stay at MADE Hotel, I've now incurred costs for having to take time off of work, my medical visit (copay, prescription antibiotics), and for getting an exterminator to look at my own apartment. When I reached out to MADE Hotel to inform them of the situation, I was absolutely not expecting the reaction I received. I spoke with Jenny, the Front Desk Manager, who essentially accused me of lying because I hadn't reported the bites during my stay (bites can take up to two weeks to present themselves). I felt she reacted in a way that was very abrasive and defensive, and she denied me any and all compensation for my nights there. I've now emailed the hotel pictures of my bites, and followed up via phone, but to no avail. I feel like I'm being intentionally avoided at this point, I still have not received any sort of apology or refund (which should be an absolute given at this point), and I have no idea if hotel management is even looking into their pest issue.
