My mom, dad, two children and I rented a cabin (Cabin #1 - the handicap accessible cabin because my dad sometimes needs a wheelchair) for one night (Monday, July 22, 2019 to Tuesday, July 23, 2019) at Kentucky Action Park, Jesse James Riding Stables. We were hoping to enjoy horseback riding, kayaking, and other fun summer activities. We decided to go to bed early (9:00PM) and while my mom and dad lay in the King bed, I lay on a futon with my little one and I see something crawling down the wall towards where my dad was laying. I get up, walk over and see a swarm, like over 100 BED BUGS CRAWLING ALL OVER MY DAD'S PILLOW WHERE HE WAS LAYING HIS HEAD! I grab him, pull him into a sitting position, take his pillow and throw it to the floor. I see many bed bugs scurry underneath the pillow, some scuttle across the floor, and I am able to see now that the bed bugs are in numerous stages of development, some very small (like a black dot) and others large enough to see legs. I then noticed bed bugs crawling up and down the wall that the King bed was against. I immediately told my family to pack up all our stuff and get into the car. I also immediately called Marylou, the owner of KY Action Park - who informed me that she PREVIOUSLY KNEW BED BUGS WERE IN CABIN #2 and she was going to get someone to come in and spray on Friday. (She really should have SHUT DOWN for extermination, given the infestation we saw.) I told her that we were leaving (it is now about 10:00PM) and she said that she would mail a refund ($100.00) for the cabin rental to my mom (who paid for the rental) along with gift certificates to return to the park on a later day (as if we would..); we did receive it. We drive home, each one of us strips naked in the garage, we each put our clothes in garbage bags, our shoes in garbage bags, our luggage in garbage bags, seal them tightly and place them in the driveway. The next day we do 8 loads of laundry - washed with HOT water and dried on the HIGH setting. Now, it's August 5, 2019, and my dad still has multiple itchy bite marks all over his back, neck, arms. Marylou's effort to rectify our horrific experience was too little too late. We should have been informed of the atrocious, neglected conditions of these cabins BEFOREHAND, especially since we RISKED BRINGING BED BUGS INTO OUR HOMES by putting our stuff on/laying on the infested bed - which I suspect we did (even though we took all cautious action to prevent it) since my dad has numerous bites, STILL.
