On the morning of June 4th I woke up after my third night in room 317 of the Houston, Texas Comfort Suites Westchase. Noticing itchy bumps all over my left side and knew immediately what I needed to look for. Upon rotating the mattress I noticed and photographed a large adult bedbug and the stains on the mattress. The less senior manager and I came to an agreement of 25% of my entire stay (~$35). The general manager, Mr. Patel then came out and said he would only refund 10% off one night’s stay (~$6.50). I had been living out of a backpack and had just secured a new apartment so, obviously paranoid about dragging them back there, I said if Mr. Patel could not honor the agreement his co manager and I made I would have no choice but to file bedbug complaints across the board. He withdrew any offer of compensation and said he does not negotiate with customers who make threats. He then proceeded to call the police and threatened to have me removed for talking about bedbugs too loud in the lobby. I then slept in my car in order to not drag them to anyone’s apartment and wrote management off as entirely unprofessional. The staff was very sympathetic and friendly, but the manager was belligerent and belittling to both his employees and me. Even though I photographed and took video of the bedbug encounter, and had been prepared to consider the matter pretty much satisfactorily settled Mr. Patel yelled at me and told me to leave. No refund of any kind. Unbelievable.
