June 6, 2019 @ 0730, discovered bed bugs crawling on clothing laid on bed. Knocked the bug to the floor and smashed it. Took pictures, reported it to front desk/management, and was offered a room on the same floor, a few doors down.

0n 6/6/2025 at 4:50 pm, I approached the front desk of the Hampton Inn Rome to notify the front desk of bedbugs. I explained to front desk clerk that I had woken up 3 mornings straight with a growing number of red insect bites each day. The clerk insisted it was not bedbugs. I then placed my water bottle on counter for her to see a live bedbug kicking around in the water. She glimpsed at it and continued to say it was not a bedbug. I proceeded to expose my arms, neck, chest, and shoulders covered in bites. She, then, called over the maintenance guy to confirm and alerted management. After several minutes of waiting, the manager came walking through the doors. She asked what do I need? I explained the situation, showed her the bug, and asked her what is the process they have in place to fix these types of situations. The clerk responded, " We just let people use the dryer." The manager said they don't really have anything to assist the customers in place. But, they do have a method for cleaning the room. Therefore, I would have to tell them how to help me. So far, they have provide 91% alcohol pray bottles,I requested. They put my clothes in the commercial dryer and offered to reimburse my luggage cost, according to my request. It seems management is trying to handle the situation. But, I feel there needs to be a protocol in place for all hotels. There should not be a guessing game going on at an established business.
