To whom it may concern, my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law and myself were recently staying in your hotel as part of a bus tour group from Ingham-Okoboji. We stayed in your hotel from Monday, oct. 24-thurs. Oct 27. Tuesday morning my mother-in-law started itching behind her neck and under both arms in the elbow area. We looked her over and found no less that 12 red welts. By Tuesday evening she was miserable so we tore the bed apart, lifted up the mattress and started looking and guess what?? We found 3 bedbugs hiding in the piping of the box spring and they were alive! We had scotch tape so we trapped the little suckers and took them to the night desk clerk. She came back with us and examined both beds and the hide-a-bed. We didn't find any more, but of course we weren't going to stay in that room so she gave us another room. We asked her to help us check that room too. We didn't find any but we were very paranoid that we were all going to carry home bedbugs. I don't know how your part of the country feels about bedbugs but where we come from they are a vile, disgusting, filthy bug and not to mention the emotional trauma and the intense itching resulting from their bite. Wednesday morning my sister-in-law found 18 bites around both legs! I found one bite on my leg. By Wednesday evening both mother and sister-in-law wanted to leave but where could we go?? As far as we knew every hotel down there has bedbugs and doesn't care about them. Plus we were trapped because we were on a bus tour and couldn't just go off on our own. We had a dinner at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum that evening and both mom-in-law and sister-in-law stayed in the room and missed a fun evening. While I was eating with the group, mom-in-law was crying and saying, "I can't take it any more, the itching is driving me crazy, don't tell me to not itch them, I can't help it they are terrible!" My sister-in-law was alternating putting hot cloths on them and administering anti-itch medication. To make matters worse, sister-in-law thought she would take a jacuzzi bath so she picked up some bleach at Walmart, filled up the tub with hot water, poured in the bleach to disinfect, and turned on the switch, and the tub didn't work!!! She called the front desk and was told the motel was renovating and none of the jacuzzi's worked. Needless to say they didn't sleep well AT ALL, for 2 nights. Lack of sleep makes for crabby traveling companions. We also had taken the bugs back to the desk on Wednesday afternoon and the manager said that their hotel doesn't have bedbugs. How can your hotel not have bedbugs when we found them and had them in our hand!!!! She confiscated the evidence so I wasn't able to get a picture. She also offered to take us to Walmart to get benedryl and anti-itch ointment which was very nice of her. She bought the benedryl but forgot the anti-itch medication. Needless to say, we were more than glad to get out of your hotel. I will never stay in another choice hotel again and I plan to write a horrible review and give you ZERO stars! We expected to be compensated without begging you for something but of course nothing was mentioned and we didn't feel up to begging for anything even a lousy gift card.like I said, we were at the mercy of our bus tour and had to go where they went and leave when they leave. I will be waiting for your response. I also plan to mention this on Facebook and other social media. 6/30/19 3 am Reported to staff in am They said manager not on duty, etc. Did not seem to care AT ALL. Said they could not issue a refund without manager approval.
