Bedbugs were reported by a couple of residents here in Evergreen Square, Milwaukee, WI. On May 22, 2025, residents received a notice that Rentokil would be coming into the apartments for canine inspection for bedbugs. A canine did not come because of some problem but two human females came into apartments to manually inspect for bedbugs. The one that came into my apartment inspected my upholstered furniture and inspected my matttress and box spring and found nothing. As she left, she said 'you have nothing to worry about'. On May 24th, I found one bedbug in my recliner. I have since gotten numerous bites on my legs and arms from bedbugs. I reported it to management. A few apartments on the third floor, west side have had heat treatments done. I do not know if they still have bedbugs. On Tuesday, June 10th, we are supposed to have chemical treatment done on at least three apartments on this side of the third floor. One resident was told that if we wanted heat treatments, we would have to pay for it ourselves at a cost of $1200 each. Those of us who have bedbugs will get chemical treatment. Because of this, I have to board my cat from Monday, June 9th, 2025 until Wednesday, June 11th so that he will not come into contact with chemicals and to let the chemical smell go away before I let him back into the apartment. At this moment, I don't know how much this will cost me. I have been cleaning out closets and throwing away things. I have no idea how much these things cost as I have had them for a while. I was told I must clear out all clothes from closets and dressers and after treatment wash these things in hot water and dry them in hot water. I have a lot of clothes so this will cost me money I do not have to waste on things like this. Likewise, the cost of the vet and boarding for my cat during this time period. I wanted to report this because I was told by a former resident that this entire building had bedbugs at one time. As far as I know, the infestation is limited to the west side, third floor of building 3149 of Evergreen Square.
