Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

After booking a TAN vacation through my employer, we arrived at room 111 of Sun Beach in Ocean City to check out our room. The room was small, outdated, and not the cleanest. We did a search of the room and found a bed bug on a pest trap under the bed. We alerted the staff and they moved us to a hotel for a few nights until a confirmation could be made. By Monday, it was confirmed there were bed bugs in the room. We were moved to another room in the same condo which was very nice and clean (much larger as well). Room 111 was heat treated for bed bugs during the week. Very inconvenient way to start our vacation but they were very helpful in relocating us.
