Bedbug Reviews

Checked into room 212 around 10pm on 08/12/22. Showered and went to bed only to wake up at close to 3am because I was super itchy. Went to the bathroom and found bites on the side of my face, neck, and arms. I immediately looked up information about bedbugs to see if that’s what they were and started feeling more confident in my suspicions. I quickly found 3 bed bugs and took pictures of them. One of on my pillow, another at the foot of the bed above the covers, and the last one I saw was under the covers closer to side of the bed, we both got dressed to go downstairs and talk to the front desk. The man there gave a heavy sigh when we reported the bedbugs and showed him the pictures. He transferred us to the room directly across from ours and said we would be getting $50 reimbursed for that night. We went upstairs to move our things and decided to do laundry to minimize the risk of taking the bugs with us. Initially, I wasn’t going to make a huge fuss about the situation because they quickly got us a new room and I understand that things like that happen. I didn’t expect the room to be used again that quickly though. That made me uneasy so I decided to check it out the front desk only for them to tell me that they had no idea what I was talking about. They were never informed of a bedbug incident. I showed them the images of the bugs and my bites as a result. They looked into when the family had checked in and they told me they checked in at 8pm that night. Approximately 15hrs after we had vacated the room. I asked if they had it cleared from bed bugs and then another guy there said him and his team cleared the room. I would’ve thought something like that wouldn’t have been cleared that quickly but I don’t know much on the subject. The guy I was initially talking to asked me how I was feeling and I mentioned that I have an allergy to bug bites so they tend to look worse than normal. He also told me to update him in the morning about my bites to see if I found new ones because he was concerned with them being transferred to our new room. After that conversation, I returned to my room and felt better because they assured me everything was taken care of. We checked out the following morning and now we’re back home. I did some more research and decided to file this report because I don’t think they followed proper protocol. They moved us to a room directly across from the bedbugs and essentially only gave us $50 back. There’s no way that room was properly cleared of bedbugs given the small time frame between when we checked out of it and when the new family occupied it. I was not shown a report of the room being cleared or anything. Given that the staff wasn’t notified of the issue, I feel as though they were trying to cover it up. I also checked room availability and found that no more room were available during those dates so it’d make sense that they put someone in that room anyway. Not okay to do by any means but I’m sure the alternative would’ve been an issue as well. The alternative having to tell them that they didn’t have a room for them and they’d have to go elsewhere. I’d also like to add that the $50 reimbursement didn’t get returned to the card we used for payment but instead given to us in the form of a sort of gift card to use whenever we stay at another one of their hotels. I think that’s a selfish reimbursement honestly. They’ll still get that money back eventually if we decide to use it or if we don’t feel comfortable using it again, we’d still be out of our money.
