Stayed for one night only on the 3rd/4th. Upon arriving home noticed bites on both legs, shoulders, chest, neck and arms. As an experienced ER nurse I knew immediately the bites were from bed bugs but I sought a 2nd opinion anyway from my physician colleagues - conclusion = bedbugs.

PLEASE include room numbers in your bed bug reports! I found evidence of bed bugs in room 5520 (the "short" part of the hotel) but not in room 704 (the "tower"). The details follow. Upon checkin, the desk agent was hostile to my query about bed bugs. She insisted that this hotel has never had bed bugs. She assigned me to room 5520. Upon inspecting that room, I saw mixed evidence of bed bugs, but then I found a dead bed bug between covers on the box springs. Returning to the front desk, I spoke with a desk manager. He, too, insisted that the hotel did not have bed bugs, and he requested that I show it to him. He was very polite (unlike the first woman), and I showed him the evidence in the room. He professed to be ignorant of bed bugs. After taking a photograph, he knocked the dead bed bug onto the carpet. (Given the carpet coloring, I would not have noticed it lying there.) Do you think that the hotel booked someone else into that room that night? We returned to the front desk, and he assigned me to room 704. I inspected that room very carefully, but I found no evidence of bed bugs during my stay in that room. My first stay at this hotel was 3 or 4 years ago. Before that first visit, I spoke with the marketing (group sales?) director. He explained that the hotel used heating machines after every report of bed bugs. I was willing to make my first visit to this hotel because of his candor and his ability to speak intelligently about the problem---I believed that the hotel was taking appropriate steps to keep up with the problem. During my visit this year, however, the front desk manager reported that a pest control company sprays for bed bugs throughout the year, and he reported that he has never heard of heating machines. So if this hotel ever did use heating machines, it no longer uses them. This hotel uses bed bug mattress covers today, yet its staff aggressively deny that the hotel has bed bugs. I am disappointed by this lack of candor. I believe that every major hotel had bed bugs, and I value those that are willing to talk about the issue intelligently and honestly.

I stayed at Astor Crown Plaza Oct 14 -18. As soon as I returned home I woke up covered I’m bites. Called hotel 4 times before the responded. Spent &3800.00 to have my home exterminated sent photos and bill to insurance company as I was instructed to. They offered me $250.00 because I had no “proof”. I live in a single family home. I stayed there for five days and all of a sudden full of bites. As per the Center for Disease Comtrol it’s common for the welts to show up later. In some people they never show up at all. I’m appalled at the way they brushed this off. It has caused me tremendous financial hardship. I don’t know what kind of proof they wanted. Should I have mailed them the bugs? Don’t stay there or, at any of their properties.
