Bedbug Reviews

I stayed for two nights at Cambria Suites in Madison, WI. (Room 309) I woke up the first day with 4 bite marks on my left upper arm. At that time I didn't think anything of it. Although I thought it was a bug bite I did not immediately think it was bed bugs. The following morning I had the same bite marks on my left arm and at least 12 other areas on the same arm and 5 bite marks on my right arm. I was traveling for business and showed the bites to my co-worker who confirmed they were bed bug bites.I checked out that morning an informed the assistant manager of the incident and showed her the bits that were visible on my lower arm. She apologized and offered me a free breakfast. I told her I was not interested in any compensation and asked if anyone else had complaints, which she denied. After thinking about this all morning I called the hotel back and spoke with the same manager and explained I did not feel they were taking this very seriously and I stated that while the gesture of a free breakfast was nice it would not solve the problem for the next resident.

I stayed with my family on the night of January 5th, 2017. In the morning of the 6th, my young daughters were laying in the one bed playing and one saw a bug scurry across the sheets. I captured it, put it in the sink, took a photo, and smushed it (since it was still moving) - and it was filled with blood I believe was mine since I found what I suspect to be a bite the next morning. We only found the one. I immediately called the front desk and asked them to bring me garbage bags. It took over 10 minutes for them to arrive and all they brought me were the tiny laundry bags which have the holes in the bottom for ventilation. Which if anyone knows, these aren't appropriate for containing items after an infestation. I called again and asked them to bring actual large garbage bags and it took another 10 minutes and they only brought me 4 - for a room with 2 adults and 3 kids and several bags they saw me bring in. The GM and another employee came to the room to check to see if they could find any more - to which, they didn't. They also took the bug. They said they had to call their Orkin rep to have them confirm it was a bed bug and also to check for more. The GM called me later in the afternoon to tell me that YES, IT WAS A BED BUG but supposedly, they didn't find any more. The GM offered to pay for any laundering but I was able to use my own dryer for all the clothes and have quarantined everything else. When I told him that I didn't need any laundering, he offered me a $40 gift card to a local restaurant to which I said, I'd prefer somewhere like Target so I could purchase new bags. He said he'd be sending that soon but that he couldn't refund the cost of my room which was $119 because I paid for it through travel agency. Everyone I'm sure has opinions on what is acceptable compensation so I won't provide my opinion on that. But this has been extremely stressful to my family, as we experienced this stay on the night before moving into our brand new house - and now I have to check for several weeks because these things are resilient and may still prove to be an issue.
