BEWARE! Early stage BED BUG infestation in room 406!! Ignored by GM (Platinum Member Review) ​I lived locally the property next door for 4 years. I am a Platinum Loyalty Member, and this Holiday Inn Express used to be my favorite hotel on the beach. I have recommended an enormous amount of business to this property, and my husband has booked hundreds of thousands of dollars of business through their sister property on 21st Street. After my stay on May 20th 2026, I left with a significant case of bed bug bites, a trail of 8 bites along the outside of my panty line going down the back of my leg and another 5 on my opposite arms and legs. These have been clinically confirmed by a medical professional (example photos attached). ​When I privately reached out with medical facts, management issued a boilerplate corporate denial. They claimed that because an exterminator didn’t visually find anything a few days later, the room is fine. To be clear: in the early stages of a single "hitchhiker" bug introduction, it is virtually impossible to detect them visually. Furthermore, it is a proven medical fact that bed bugs do not affect everyone equally; new guests not complaining yet, proves absolutely nothing. ​I did not earn Platinum status by making false claims, nor is there any motivation to do so. I gave the General Manager every opportunity to do the responsible thing and simply treat the room out of an abundance of caution. Instead, the GM has chosen to ghost my emails and ignore the scientific facts. Because leadership refuses to take public health or elite guest safety seriously, I can no longer trust this property. Lookout travelers: without room 406 being treated, it should have a full-blown infestation mid to late summer.
