12/17-20/23 The first morning I woke up with two bites on my arm. I thought maybe it’s hives, they were still light that evening. The second morning I woke up with a lot of very visible bites on my face and arms. I made the manager aware. She checked my bed and assured me it was fine. The third night I’d had enough when I got a new bite right after I laid down facing a different direction. With the room dark I grabbed my phone and used the flashlight. I moved the mattress and found a lot of bedbugs and exoskeletons in the seam of the box spring cover. We’ve been moved to another room. My husband and I checked it in the dark and saw no signs. Hopefully this is done. It’s a business trip, so we’re stuck another night.

I checked in for what was supposed to be a one-night stay around 4 p.m. on November 5, 2025, and had to check out before sunrise the next morning—around 5 a.m.—after being bitten by bedbugs. While hotel management did refund me for the room, they refused to acknowledge the presence of bedbugs. When I asked what steps were being taken to ensure the affected room and hotel were properly treated, I was told “the insects observed were identified as carpet or spider beetles, which are commonly found in rural areas and are attracted to fabrics rather than people.” If that’s true, can someone please explain why I woke up covered in large, swollen, and itchy welts? Why did I have to visit a walk-in clinic two days later after over-the-counter antihistamines failed to relieve my symptoms? Even the physician noted it was bedbug bites. (Apparently, they bite in sections of three.) I have photo and video evidence of the bites as well as the bedbugs crawling in my bed.
