I am writing to formally report an extremely distressing and unacceptable incident that occurred during my recent stay at Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East, located at 13711 Sayward Blvd, Herndon, VA 20171, from July 19 to July 22, 2025. During my stay, I experienced severe bed bug bites that caused substantial physical discomfort, emotional distress, and financial burden. As a result of this infestation, I was forced to: * Pay out-of-pocket to launder all clothing and personal items * Have my vehicle professionally detailed to prevent contamination * Purchase new luggage to avoid transporting the pests home On July 21, 2025, after realizing my symptoms were consistent with bed bug bites, I immediately notified the front desk around 6:00 PM. I requested either a transfer to a different hotel or, at the very least, to a room far away from the infested one. I also asked to speak with the manager, but was told was not available. Later that evening, I was handed keys to another room who instructed me to relocate my belongings and return the old room key. In the meantime, I joined other members of my party (who were staying in a different room) in the laundry room, where we began washing all our items using purchased garbage bags, detergent, and rubbing alcohol. Upon entering the new room, I was immediately hit with a strong odor of mold and mildew. I returned to the front desk to report this. As I was speaking to the current desk representative (who was preparing to leave for the night) turned back at the door and insisted I return the old room key. I explained that I was in crisis and had left the keys in the new room. Employee returned behind the counter and appeared visibly annoyed. What followed was completely inappropriate and humiliating, loudly told the front desk agent, within earshot of other guests, that “the lady might be on her period” because a washcloth had blood on it. His comment was crude, baseless, and deeply offensive, especially considering I was visibly distressed and in the middle of managing a medical and hygiene emergency. I responded that the stain was makeup-related, but his lack of apology or empathy compounded an already traumatic night. By the time I was finally settled, it was 11:30 PM, and I had to be up at 6:30 AM. My evening was consumed by this ordeal, including extended phone calls with HotelTonight and the Hyatt escalation team, from 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM, trying to find resolution. On July 22, I sought medical treatment at an Urgent Care, where a licensed physician confirmed the bites were from bed bugs and prescribed medication due to signs of infection. To date, the only acknowledgment I’ve received was an email on July 23, which I believe came after I posted a public review. She mentioned that pest control would be inspecting the room, but I have not heard back with any findings or follow-up.
