October 31–November 3, 2025, stayed at Red Roof Inn and started noticing bites but assumed it was from outdoor activities until my fiancée woke up on 11/2 with a giant bite on her face. We looked through the bedding and did not see any issues but on 11/3 when more bites appeared, we flipped the mattress and found a substantial and obvious infestation between the bed frame and mattress as a sheet was placed in between that they had infected. When management was made aware of the issue, first they tried to deny it was their room when shown pictures, then when we offered to show them the room and infestation right then and they they declined and wrote an incident report and offered a refund. The refund was never given, so we emailed them to open a claim and preserve evidence. When a DBR inspector went on 11/7, the room was closed for treatment. Then after delaying from Nov until late January 2026, the insurance tried to deny the claim stating that an Orkin report from 11/12 (9 days after the incident and 5 days after DBR inspector documented the room was being treated showed no issue, so they would not uphold the claim, despite the onsite report, showing management bites, photo and video evidence, etc. This motel has had other online complaints about bedbugs, but instead of resolving the issue and compensating the injured guest, they decided to not even follow through on the promised refund and cover up the evidence and lie/deny to try and avoid any accountability.
