I stayed at this hotel for a few hours after watching the SpaceX Crew Dragon Demo-1 Launch At Kennedy Space Center March 1-2, 2019. Before I went out to Cape Canaveral, I checked the bed for any signs of bedbugs. The mattresses were completely wrapped in plastic, and the hotel had done everything they could do to prevent bedbugs. However once I had returned from the launch I fell asleep for about four hours, and woke up with a bedbug crawling over my bedding, and several blood spots on the sheets. I immediately called the front desk, and they immediately sent someone up, and had no problem bringing up some garbage bags for me as well to place my belongings in. The staff was professional and very apologetic, and refunded my stay immediately. unfortunately, I’ve had to go and purchase plastic containers that I could see you to make sure that my own home didn’t end up with bedbugs as a result. The staff was excellent, the accommodations are actually quite good, but I wanted to warn people to double check your room before you bring any luggage in. I looked at the mattress and pull back the sheets and saw no signs, but the bedbugs were either hiding in the headboard, or in the sham. Whatever you do don’t leave bags on the ground, and don’t put them on the bed. Make sure your bags zipped up tight, or even purchase plastic bags for your suitcases that can be sealed. I was staying in room 259, and unfortunately the hotel said they have to take that room out of service while they treat it. The staff and manager were amazing through it all. I did suffer some financial loss because of the bed bugs and would have been nice to be re-imbursed for those expenses. At the end of the day, I just want to make sure my own home doesn’t end up with any bed bugs after this encounter.
