Bedbug Reviews

Stayed at Banyon Harbor from 12/15-12/17 as an exchange for a timeshare with RCI. So supposedly staying in a timeshare unit. Came as a result of bad experience at another resort. The place was very hot as no ac was on. On 12/15 in afternoon after laying in both rooms (one cooler than the other) on bed/sitting briefly in chair by couch noticed multiple bites (8 or more) on arm - 7 days later remain itchy. The bites were in lines around my elbow. On the evening of 12/15 sat in chair by sofa and slept in large bedroom. The next morning, 12/16 wake up and go to the concierge meeting they had and I'm itching as I walk up there to it - find two large red welts on my left elbow and on the back of my upper arm. The evening of 12/16 while laying in bed feel a bite on back of neck. At 4 am wake up and see large welt on back of neck. By 12/16 I'm wondering about this building I'm staying in. No one else is in this building. And, certainly no one next to me in any of the units. Three doors down from the one I'm staying in it appears that the unit has been gutted as the covered parking area has all kinds of building debris - dry wall, a cut in half rusted bathtub in it. That was wierd considering this is supposed to be a timeshare and has the name resort in the title. There also was a plastic canister (6 gal or more capacity) filled with liquid sitting outside the unit that was being worked on with a wand attached to it that is used for spraying for bugs? On 12/16 I spoke to the girl at the front desk asking if they had a problem with bedbugs. I said I'd never been bitten in the three times I'd been to Kauai before. And, I was not bitten in Oahu for a week's stay nor in the other timeshare I stayed at overnight. Not until I arrived there did I get bitten. On the evening of 12/16 and early morning of 12/17 I was so upset by another bite I decided to leave the island rather than pay another $700 to stay at another hotel and flew out that day cutting my vacation short and costing me a lot of money. I checked out with the front desk clerk and asked to speak to the manager who was not in at 9 am, Monday, 12/17. She took pictures of my arm to show to him. They refunded my resort fee that I had paid and tax. I'd have liked to have gotten back my exchange points and RCI fees. But, never heard from the manager. Called on 12/20 and he was no in at 1 pm. Left a message. He returned my call at a time when I did not have my cell phone available and left a message he was looking into it. They checked and their were no bedbugs. Prior to leaving I looked on the bed and behind. But, as anyone knows who has dealt with bedbugs - they are extremely dificult to find - particularly if it's not a full blown infestation or they are coming in from another unit. I had placed my clothing in the dressers, I had books sitting on a shelf attached to the wall about 8 inches from the bed. Now I'm very concerned I brought these bugs into my house. Washing clothes and heating them doesn't kill bed bugs, nor if they got on to my books, or eggs were in the dresser drawers. Really stressed as I just dealt with this issue three years ago and if this has happened again right before I'm having surgery on my hip where I will be laying down on the bed and couch for almost 8 weeks. These people are going to have hell to pay. I've already noticed several bites on my body. So very very concerned. And, the signs are all there - the empty building, the gutted apartment, the cansiter of spray.
