Bedbug Reviews

I stayed there for a medical conference from 9/12/-9/16/17. I noticed one bite on 9/13 and progressively noticed more as the week went on. On 9/14/17 I checked sheets and saw dried blood. Unsure if this was true bed bugs I went to sleep and woke up with more bites. I went to conference and while there looked in mirror seeing more bites on my face, arms and hands. I called the hotel at noon 9/15/17 and said I would come to in a hour back to my room. I went to hotel and met with chief of operations and housekeeping executive who said it probably wasn't bed bugs but offered to wash my clothes. I asked for someone to professionally see if their were bed bugs in the room and they called Ecolab who four hours later who confirmed bed bugs. They offered to put me in another room of which I initially agreed but then decided to stay elsewhere because I did not trust this hotel to provide a clean and bug free hotel room. I left this hotel with minimal items on me as the rest of my items were stored away in the back of the hotel to be decided what was to be done with them. The next day I came back to the Hyatt Regency to decide on how my personal belongings were going to be handled but I was told the chief of operations was not there and I was told I could call him to see what was to be done with my personal items. I called and there was no response. I talked to the manager on sight and she said nothing could be done by her and I would have to talk to the chief of operations. I am a physician and know how easily bed bugs travel so I asked my personal belongings be left at the hotel and they would give the monetary valuation of the items. I finally got in contact with Someone who said he would give monetary value of items and I needed to email him. I left with only my phone and laptop. I was only compensated with a $400 credit for my luggage but was not compensated for my professional clothes, purses and shoes which was all I was asking for. I was told it would have to go through a claim through insurance and was not given a time frame as to how long this would take and still don't know and am without my personal belongings. I know the this large hotel chain with a well known brand can easily compensate for my things but they are going through insurance while I am left with 22 bites on my face and body and left with none of my personal items more compensation for them. I simply asked for actual reimbursement for the items affected by the situation and the hotel should not be trusted with cleaning my personal items since they did not provide a clean and bug free room. That all rooms should be checked for bed bugs before releasing to customers. They are easily spotted in the sheets and in around mattresses - no excuse. Even a maid who cleaned my room after the fact said she saw them and management knew. This has been a very distressing situation and has been a nightmare to deal with. Management has been standoffish and unhelpful in providing fair treatment to an issue that could be easily resolved with a credit instead they are making me go through the process of filing with their insurance. $2000 plus worth of my personal belongings are in their possession and this is 100 % percent not my fault yet management has acted unprofessionally and without integrity when they can easily do the right thing and remedy this situation.
