Bedbug Reviews

Anonymous

On September 18, 2026 at approximately 1900 hours, I woke with multiple bites on my arms. I notified the front desk clerk and we agreed that the next morning housekeeping would strip the bed and replace all bed coverings. No one suggested the bites might have been caused by bedbugs. I was offered another room, but because I knew I was checking out in a couple of days, I naively thought it was an over-reaction to change rooms. The next morning after watching housekeeping searching the seams of the mattress, I came to the conclusion they suspected bedbugs and asked for a spray for the mattress but was told they did not have any. I bought a can of Hot Shot bedbug spray myself. The next evening (Wednesday) I found a dead bedbug in the sheets. I took several photos and showed it to another front desk clerk. At some point, I even spoke with the General Manager, but nothing was ever offered beyond a room change. At that point, I knew I would be leaving on Friday morning, and since I had already sprayed the bed, I felt like I could only assume another room might have bedbugs and most likely my belongings were infected after being in the room for over a week. The itching was horrible and the medicine I bought brought little relief. I eventually spent quite a bit of money buying more medicine for itch relief and antihistamines as well as garbage bags to place all my belongings in and more spray to kill any possible bedbugs in my luggage and clothing. I was told the General Manager would be in by 0900 hours on Thursday morning, but he did not show up and then I was told he would not arrive until possible 1200 hours. I was not available at that time. When I asked, I was reassured by another front desk clerk that he would be available for me to speak with around 1900 hours. When I went to the front desk, the GM had left for the day. I was encouraged to take his business card and call him directly. The listed phone number went back to the hotel. I was asked for my number and promised that the GM would call me. He did not. When I checked out on Friday morning, I was told again to call him. When I did, the GM spoke with me for several moments, but said he had a meeting and would call me back in an hour. He did NOT. One front desk clerk filled-out a complaint form for me, but no one would give me a copy of it. I reached out the Customer Care and they have assigned me a case number and have promised the situation will be looked into within 2 to 3 business days. My hope is I will hear something positive from them as I do not think Hampton Inn-Gainesville, GA is going to do anything to remedy the situation.
