One the morning of the second day of our trip. we woke up to bites all over our bodies. We reported the bites to the staff and were told to get cream from Royal Farms. Through out the day, we notices more and more bites. When we returned to our room that night, I checked both double beds to find bed bug in both beds. The one bed even had a bunch of dead bug beds on it. We also had someone sleep on the couch. She was also bitten, however we did not physically see any bed bug on the black frame.

We stayed 3 nights, work up 2nd day had bites on my hand. Didn't know what they were. Boyfriend work up last day and had bites all over him. We searched the bed and one was on his pillow. Called down to front desk, they sent someone up. She say it and proceed to tell us it has been a problem. They gave us a managers number, 3 measages, no call back. Front desh did get us our refund after not being very friendly at first. Made another call, put me to another managers voicemal, again no call back. We had a 5 month old baby with us, luckly she didn't get bit. I have scars now on my hands from the bites, I had a bad reaction to them I guess. Now I'm stressed all the time that I'm going to get them at home, although we took precautions.

We checked into this hotel Fri afternoon. Fri night at 11:30 my children and I were sitting on one of the beds watching tv and talking about our day when I seen a bug crawling on bed. We jumped up and turned on light. What we saw was horrifying. At least a dozen bed bugs between the being on the bed and wall around headboard. We immediately called the front desk and packed our stuff. When staff came up he seen the problem and said he would get us moved. When I got to the office I asked for a refund and was told he couldn't give me a refund as he didn't have authority. He informed me I could contact property manager Matthew James the next day. He set us up at a sister hotel now that it was midnight which I did appreciate considering I had two kids and it was now midnight. However I have called this property manager for 3 days and left multiple messsges on his voicemail and with receptionists. And still no call back. I asked for another number and was transferred to his boss. Again after multiple calls and messages I have yet to receive a call. It was absolutely horrifying what we experienced and appalling that not one manager from this hotel can return a phone call or offer a refund given the clear bed bug infestation. And to make this even worst when I went on the hotels Facebook page today there was a review from another woman who had the same exact experience 2 weeks ago at the same hotel... Seriously Bonita Beach Hotel and Carousel Group get it together. This is despicable.

7/10/23 I encountered bedbugs biting my skin and when I contacted the property manager he denied everything even though I sent a lot of proof.

Stayed at the Bonita for the first time on June 7 - 9, 2025. Booked for my sons 9th birthday, we checked in, noticed that the hotel false advertised many things but still decided to stick it thru, upon the first hour we did a inspection found what looked to be a tic but now I think it was a full blown bed bug. Even with us cleaning throughout the room again to ensure the safety of everyone’s belongings as it was 3 adults 2 children the first night my mother screamed to a burning itch in her neck in which she was covered in red welts, the next day we went straight to the urgent care, we thought it was a spider bite from her previous encounters before the allergic reaction was similar - we asked housekeeping to change the sheets in which we were told they don’t do that until after a person checks out…. My mother stated well I was bite in the night this room needs fresh sheets, she requested vacuuming because of my daughter playing who is only 2 years old… my mother requested the part of the floor be mopped where the kitchen is and housekeeping put a dirty towel over the mop to mop the floor … it didn’t smell clean nor looked clean… after trying to stick it out for my son taking him to the beach and pool … trying to cheer him up because this situation had taken a turn for the worse after showering I had checked behind my back I found 15-20 bite marks all over immediately screaming my mother told my father to check us out at that point we were worried for the kids and our belongings as we worked so hard to afford a life of luxury we were mortified to come home not only bitten from unknown bugs mites or scabies! My mother had 2 doctors visit one in a nearby urgent care open that weekend happened to be in Bethany Beach, DE after being open now 4 days my son has now spots all over his arms — my itching has not stopped we have marks on our bodies !!! Never in my life have I ever ever ever dealt with this!!!!!!! We insured the room prior to booking and will be proceeding forward to not only receive compensation but to help notify the public of this ongoing situation. Upon researching now I have found up to ten years ago complaints of this issue but I had to dig it up as the reviews rave about Bonita beach Hotel being great and clean! DO NOT STAY THERE DO NOT TAKE UR FAMILY!! We stayed in the 5th floor to toward the end of the hall which had to be the oldest section of the hotel as it is not being re done as we were told from company staff but they mentioned the hotel has been like that since 1980…. You do the math … if the beds and furniture haven’t been changed …
