We stayed at HGI Carlsbad on June 12 2021. About 4 hours into our stay I had mysterious bug bites on my back, and then right before we went to sleep we realized that there were bed bugs in our bed (I saw a bug on the sheets as I was pulling them up to go to sleep). When we saw the first bug, we packed up and left immediately (around 1:30am). Management confirmed a couple of days later that the room had been inspected and they did indeed find bed bugs. So far they have covered some of our costs, but not all of them, even though I felt that we were fairly frugal on our costs (we drove home instead of paying another hotel room that night, we didn’t replace luggage and will have pesticide on them from now on, we did not have our entire house treated for precaution— just our car, etc) and they have not made up for any of our intangible costs like days we took off work to have cleaning/treatment/inspection etc done on our things, not to mention the stress of wondering if it has transferred to our house. Experts seem to say you must wait 6-8 weeks to find out if you have transferred an infestation into your home, so between now and then, we are nervous, tired, and we wish there was more the Hilton could offer to make up for it.
