6/12/2021 First, I noticed a very small bug in my bed which I went ahead smashed. I wasn't too concerned because of its small size and appearance. I pulled back the sheet and mattress protector and I did not see any of the classic signs of them. However, the next morning when I was getting ready to check out, I found another bug in the bed that was hanging out on the edge of the comforter. This one was considerably larger and resembled all the pictures I've seen of bedbugs. I caught it, put it inside the plastic bag from the ice bucket and knotted up the bag. I didn't have the time or desire to look for more of them as I had to get to the airport. I went and checked out at the front desk and presented the bag to the clerk on duty and told her what it was. She looked at it and said "I don't know what that is" but the look on her face and the speed of which she put the bag down said otherwise. I repeated to her that it was a bedbug. She didn't apologize, she didn't say she would report it to her manager and she did not offer any sort of compensation or reduction in my room rate, which I found "unacceptable. I didn't have time to make a scene with her, but now I regret not announcing it to the few guests that were sitting in the lobby because they deserved to know and it was clear that the hotel wasn't going to do it. I have not yet found any bites on my body, but I just read that 30% of people are non reactive to them. Now that I'm home, I've got all my stuff from the trip tied up in a black plastic trash bag and am letting it sit and bake in the 90 degree sun outside. It's supposed to be 90+ all week so I'm going to leave it out for days. Praying to God I don't get them in my house or car
