Arrived Friday Sept 26. Was told the mattress was bought a week ago. This was a lie as there were stains on the mattress. We dropped our belongings onto the wooden coffee table and went to Battlefield Park to watch a track meet.Returned for a short time then went to dinner. Returned around 11, watched some tv before Turning out the light. After an hour or so of feeling like things were crawling on me I grabbed my phone and turned on the flashlight. There were BUGS crawling all around. We quickly got out to the bed. We showered and placed our clothes in a duffel, threw it in the bed of the truck and headed for the office. It took almost 15 minutes for staff to answer our call and in the meantime a gentleman came to the office. We asked if he worked there, he said no and I said " just want to give you a heads up . He interrupted and said BUGS! A staff member came and I told her our concern and told her I wanted a refund as did the other gentleman ( both of the rooms he rented had bedbugs). My husband asked how often this happened and she said "more than you want to know". They rented rooms knowing it was infested with bedbugs. Although we took precautions not to carry this home we had to call in a professional exterminator. This was an expensive and exhausting process not to mention the physical discomfort. I was bitten pretty severely on my neck and face as well as bites on my arms. We stopped to get coffee for the long 5 hour ride home and the men working at the service station not to far from the Days Inn by Wyndham Battlefield New Market, VA. said they often tell people Not to go there because of the bedbugs. Why has the board of health not shut them down. They are causing innocent people stress and expense. I'll think long and hard before staying in Virginia even though my granddaughter is in college there.
