Bedbug Reviews

Anonymous

I checked in on Saturday March 18, 2023 around 7pm after eating what I could of my dinner from one of my favorite local restaurants. Around 300 am I was starting to loose my charge on my phone after talking with my friends, so I plugged my phone in. A few moments later, I spotted a bug on the opposite bed. Snapped a picture, because I was pretty sure it was a bed bug. One of my girlfriends confirmed it. She gave me some tips as I quickly started packing my stuff up. By that time, I had secured a total of three female bed bugs in a cup (two from the other bed) for evidence. I called downstairs and reported the issue to the guy at the front desk. No big reaction. I told him I needed some trash bags and that I wanted to change rooms, at least two floors away, which was recommended by the internet. He said that was fine, and he could put me in room 501. He stated that he didn't understand why I needed trash bags. I explained I wanted to put all of my stuff in them. He brought me a small ice bag so I put the cup of bugs in that and tied it tight. I double bagged all of the items, threw my food away and moved all items to room 501 to the bathroom only. I then carefully went to my car to get additional clothing. I took the longest, hottest shower possible and stayed in the bathroom with my stuff. I made a few phone calls. By this time it was approaching 5 or 6 am. No sleep. I had been awake for almost 20 hrs. I had a three hour drive home. I was supposed to have breakfast with my best friend from Lynchburg, which I had to cancel. I was told a manager would be in at 7. I hung out in the bathroom with my stuff until such time. Front desk told me a manager would get in touch with me and I left my number. I went upstairs and got my things from the bathroom. I then packed my car, and in a hurry, lost my phone charger down the hill by the train tracks. The lady at the front desk apologized as I checked out and assured me that someone would contact me. I went to lay down and the manager called me. He apologized saying that he had not experienced this before. He stated that he could only refund the cost of the room because that's all the system allowed. He invited me to stay again in the future and bring my family. He said he would personally check for any concerns with the room on a future check-in. I told him I wouldn't be staying there again and maybe not at a choice hotel group ever. I told him I had stayed there before and that there was never a concern. He apologized again and asked me not to let this experience affect my future stays. I informed him of the lack of sleep, the inconvenience, the change of plans with my friend etc. He asked if I was home or if I was staying somewhere else. I told him I was home and that with it being almost 330 I needed some sleep. My husband returned home with my belongings from the laundromat and I went to sleep after over 30 hours of being awake. My skin itched from the bug bites and hurt from hot showers. I had no desire to eat until I slept. Tomorrow would begin the process of wiping everything down that was not clothing with rubbing alcohol and inspecting my vehicle.
