We stayed at this hotel from 7/25-7/29. The customer service started, and ended at the front desk. I thought I had gotten a good value with the price of the room, and add that they had free breakfast, which is where I will start. Buyer beware, the cook for the free breakfast is a housekeeping staff. I had a hard time stomaching the fact that they person who prepared the food was going back and forth from her cleaning duties to the cooking duties. And I must say she was not the nicest hotel staff I’d met up to this point, but as I found later, this was the case for most of the other housekeeping staff I encountered during my stay. I watched her literally snatch a coffee cup from another hotel guest while scolding them for trying to use it for juice, and put it back on top of the other coffee cups for some other unsuspecting guest to use. I also had a problem with housekeeping staff taking the tips I’d left for them, but not cleaning the room or making the beds. The first thing I noticed when my sons and I came back from the beach, was the sand still on the floor from the day before. I immediately went and asked a housekeeping staff in another hallway if I could borrow her broom, because my bathroom floor had not been swept. She asked which room and when I told her, she shook her head as if to say that it wasn’t a room she’d done, and handed me the broom. As I swept the floor, I noticed that there was still sand in the tub also. That’s when I noticed that the mirrors vanity, toilet, table, and other surfaces in my room had not been wiped either, nor were the beds made. When I expressed my concern to another housekeeping staff who happened to be vacuuming outside of my room, she came in and saw that it had in fact not been cleaned. She called another staff, who had a poor attitude from the moment she walked into the room, and even after she saw that it hadn’t been cleaned. When I showed her a wrapper one of my sons had dropped on the floor beneath the table, which meant that the floor had not even been vacuumed, she stated that they don’t pick up trash that is not BY the trash can. I showed her the bathtub that had obviously not been cleaned, and she said “Oh shoot, I didn’t see that. Let me go get my rag.” She came back with just a rag, no cleaner/disinfect, wiped across the tub, and ran water to run the sand down the drain. As she finished, she asked, “And what’s this broom doing in here?” I told her that I had to borrow it to sweep the sand up. She backhandedly asked on her way out of the door, “Is there anything else I can help you with?” I let her leave without completing the rest of the room because I didn’t care for her attitude, and felt it would be better to just report her later rather than to have a confrontation with her in front of my children. The morning of checkout, I noticed that my 9 year old son had dozens of little bug bites on the folds of his arms and legs, his neck and near his armpits which he said were itching him badly. I have had to bag all of our luggage and leave it outside, and only bring in one bag of clothing from our trip at a time to be laundered in hot water, so as not to bring any bed bugs into our home. Not such a good value after all. I was considering hosting our family reunion at another Comfort Inn location, but am strongly reconsidering for fear that a lack of customer service and cleanliness might be the standard for comfort Inn.
