August 8, 2018 DO NOT and I mean DO NOT Stay in this hotel! To say this was the worst experience I've ever had from a hotel in my life would be an understatement. We arrive at 3:00am due to a delayed flight, they give us our room and as soon as I walk in, it feels like the heater is ON. Mind you this is one of the hottest day in NY (August 8, 2018). I thought maybe the last person who stayed here wanted the heater on? So I go to the thermostat to turn it to cool and notice that it's already at Cool and set to 65 degrees even though the room temperature was closer to 80 degrees inside. So I go down and let them know the situation, explain I know how a thermostat works but maybe it's locked or they may know something I don't know? They quickly send a technician and after a few minutes they tell me the A/C unit has to be drained and it's broken. At this point, I thought to myself no worries they'll just give me another room, I didn't unpack so it wasn't that big of a deal. Then just as I thought that to myself I get a notification on my phone. We had other people we had traveled with and they texted me this "Did you guys know you got the last rooms? Lol I am waiting for them to find me accommodations elsewhere, my room was guaranteed and they overbooked. Dummies" So I knew this wasn't going to end well. So we go back to the front desk and the technician tells the supervisor that the A/C is broken and there's nothing they can do right now. The supervisor tells me that he's very sorry for the inconvenience but sadly there's no more rooms (I already knew that) and that he just sent our friends to another hotel and everyone is fully booked. He told me to just deal with it and he'll promise me, actually these were his exact words "I'll promise you the world" the following day to change me to a better room and also take care of me. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, I know things happen and in reality I can't blame them for something that they have no control over. Also it was already 4:00am and I needed to be awake by 7:00 so that meant by the time I get to bed I would get less than 3 hours of sleep. In fact I tweeted about it here: https://twitter.com/mondobytes/status/1027466276007014400 I go back to my room which feels like a Sauna and take a quick shower just to get my body temperature cooler and go to sleep with as little clothes as possible. The whole night I kept scratching and feeling very uncomfortable, I was so tired that I tried to dismiss it but before even 7:00am hit I couldn't take it anymore and woke up to a bunch of bugs biting me! It was the most disgusting thing I have ever experienced, I took another shower literally 2 hours later and went downstairs and showed them the pictures I had taken. By then I had to speak to a different supervisor because the night supervisor had already left, she again apologized and said they would get me into a NEW room right away and if there's anything I needed from them to let them know, they comped us our breakfast that morning which wasn't really good. She then told me her Manager would be in soon and she would talk to him to see what they can do. Since I had to leave I told her that he can call me or we can chat later, I was there for business. I get back to the Hotel in the afternoon and by then I was doing some investigating to see what it was that bit me and I come to find out that it was BED BUGS! Also, I came on to Yelp to read reviews from others and Yup, even one that was posted a month ago also said they got bit with BED BUGS! When I met with the manager I explained my situation and he didn't really seem to care never once said "we're sorry" or took blame. I told him I thought it was bed bugs, especially based on previous reviews and he clearly said they had the room expected and brought a K9 and it turned out negative. Sounded like a bunch of BS to me and the way he talked to me sounded like this happens often. I told him that I have to now throw away my clothes and luggage because from what I've read online this stuff can come back home with you and create a much bigger problem. He then offered me a free complimentary 3 day stay with them at a future date. I immediately laughed and told him, "If a restaurant serves you a cold steak and you complain about it and you get a new plate and the steak is cold again. They apologize and say, they would comp you the next time you come back to the restaurant do you think you'd want to go again even if it's free?" He really didn't seem to care what I had to say and basically said, "that's all I can do for you, we don't offer any type of monterey compensation, the best I can do is maybe bump it to a 5 night stay, but that's about it" I quickly laughed and went to my room grabbed some stuff and checked out as fast as I could! I had to throw away over $1000 worth of clothes because the last thing I want is bugs at my house, worst customer service and experience ever!!!
