I moved to this apartment April of this year. 3 Weeks ago, I found I had bed bugs. which when I moved in I had only a Sectional Sofa Bed that I was sleeping on. A week before I found out what they were, I kept seeing these bugs. Never knowing that they were bed bugs. I have never had them before. I captured one and walked it to the Manager. The first thing he said was Stay out of your next door neighbor's apartment. First of all, I thought why did he say that? Then the assistant told me that they had taken care of all my next door neighbor's bed bugs. Well, I guess they hadn't. Because I have them now. I am on a small social security retirement check. I can't just spend money like a lot of people. I was told to go out and buy a bed bug cover for my mattress. I did. Then I was told to go buy 91% Alcohol. I did, but I never knew how much I would have to buy. This apartment complex in their lease, has the Tenants pay for bed bug pest control. I had no idea I hadn't read my lease. It took 2 hours for us to go through it, we were interrupted lots of times so my attention was not good, plus I was going through Jet Lag since I moved from Spokane, Washington. So I had no idea that I would be the one to have to pay for this. I got rid of my sofa, I am now at the age of 69 sleeping on an air mattress that turns into a sofa. I told the Manager that I didn't have the $375.00 for the Bed Bug Pest Control. And after all, It wasn't me that brought them here. As I can see it it was my next door neighbor that has them and as long as they don't put all her things in plastic bags to do what I did. We will all have them. There are 7 or so that had to have the Bed Bug Pest Control to come into their apartment for treatment. All they are doing is spraying. Last Tuesday they said was the last time they would do it. But now I have to tell them that it is not the last time. The manager is going to put me on a Payment plan. I can just barely survive now. And to be but on a payment plan? I am disgusted at how WE as Senior Citizens are being treated in this manner. Is there anyone that can help this apartment complex full of Senior Citizens?
