On October 24-25, 2019, I stayed one night at the Ramada in Draper while I was collecting my child from a nearby school. In the morning, I noticed one suspicious bite on my leg that hadn't been there the night before. Because of that, I took off the covers and began looking at the bed in detail. I located one actual bedbug -- alive and crawling -- on the side of the mattress, I tried to kill it and collect it to show to management, but it dropped off the mattress to the carpet and was lost before I could do so. I informed the front desk and they told me, "What we do is we call the exterminator to examine the room. If they find a problem, they can treat it." Meantime, since I was leaving that day anyhow and didn't want to risk taking them home with me, they offered me a handful of quarters with which to run everything I owned through the dryer on high heat, and a blanket (which had not been in that room) to wrap myself in while all my clothes including those I'd been wearing went around and around. So long as they actually did call the exterminator, they probably did all right at minimizing the risk of another traveled encountering them, but I wish they'd given me more help in dealing with the extreme inconvenience of having to gather up every piece of fabric I owned including my shoes and put them through the dryer while I stood there wrapped in a blanket. If they'd offered me another room in which to wait (naked) while someone else ran my stuff through the dryer, it would have helped a lot. It's not easy to dry everything you have with you including the clothes off your back, and it was uncomfortable and embarrassing to be standing there wrapped in a blanket with no clothes on in a public area.
