10/19 approx 8:30 AM Found juvenile bed bug on floor. Squashed, showed cadaver to management. Management offered to inspect room. Said that an exterminator would be in on Monday. We declined intervention that day. We all hoped it was an isolated hitch-hiker and took no further action, except to inspect the room and our possessions ourselves, and place everything up on hard elevated surfaces. We slept with the lights on that night and noticed no insect activity. The following night (10/20) we slept with the lights off in order to get a better rest. 10/21 5:45 AM I awoke early, but well-rested, and decided to look for critters with a flashlight. I captured four live adult bugs on the sheets and under the pillow, and found another cadaver on the floor under the bed against the baseboard. There were two of us in the room, and neither of us evidenced signs of having been bitten. I showed the specimens to the night desk person, who told us she would inform the manager when he came in. When we let her know that we would probably check out that day instead of staying our final day, she suggested they could put us in another room. We declined, but inspected the room and our possessions again ourselves, packed, and waited to hear from the manager. We did not, so we went down prior to check out time and talked with him. He offered to treat our luggage with an alcohol-based product that they had on hand, but we declined. We asked it the room would be treated that day by an exterminator. He did not give us that specific assurance, though he did explain to us the routine scheduling for treating the rooms. He did the paperwork to return the one day to our credit card, but made no offers of condolences or other compensation.
