Date of Reported Incident:2012-05-22 09:16:31 Name of Location: Travelodge Green Bay/Lambeau Address of Location:Green Bay, WI Details: My stay started May 1st 2012. It is my two young children and i. When one morning my daughter woke up to small, itchy bumps running down her face,arms, and thighs. I checked my youngest and she had them as well. I had none as I slept in a different bed. I checked with the hotel manager and she told me we "may" have bed bugs but to not worry she will pay for my items to washed and dried as well as a new room. So I took it. I got my things washed and a new room... next door. I thought to myself. "few, dodged a bullet" thinking we took care of the problem right away. As it turned out I was mistaken. Next morning my two kids wake up with more bits and now I have them as well. I notify the manager and I let her now that either we somehow brought them with or the new room had them as well. She then says she will pay for my things to get washed AGAIN. WHAT'S THAT GOING TO DO. Obviously didn't work the first time. She offers to switch me rooms. So I am currently in the process of washing every piece of clothing and stuffed animal shoes and such. It's a horrible pain. All I want to do is leave my things behind and walk out with some sort of compensation. For lost and damaged items and suffering. I've been here for 22 days now . We have all our clothing here and all my kids toys and stuffed animals are here too. It's sad. 3 rooms I've been in so far and 2 for sure have them. I've been also chatting with other guest that are going to be coming forth with the same problem. I will NEVER stay here again. |
Date of Reported Incident:2012-05-22 09:16:03 Name of Location: Shell Island Resort Hotel Address of Location:Wrightsville Beach, NC Details: We stayed at the Shell Island Resort last night and found bed bugs in our bed in the morning. There were several found who had been feeding and were engorged, along with the obvious dots of blood on the sheets. We put a couple of the bugs in a ziploc bag and reported it to the hotel manager. She confirmed that they were bed bugs but said that she had not been aware of any issues beforehand. We checked out immediately and were given a full refund. Of course, our vacation had to be cut very short and now we have to throw out much of the things we brought along. |
Date of Reported Incident:2012-05-22 09:15:50 Name of Location: Microtel Inn and Suites Address of Location:London, KY Details: Was watching tv while daughter slept in pack and play. Something caught my eye. I jumped out of bed and saw a bug on my pillow. At first in the dark room I thought it was a lady bug. When I picked it up definitely saw that it wasn't a lady bug. Threw the first one down the toilet. Went back and found 2 more which I kept to show the hotel front desk. Front desk clerk said she's never seen one before and has never dealt with bed bugs. Called manager and had me move to another hotel. There were 4 total bed bugs that I could see. I'm sure there were more. I'm just glad my daughter was in the pack and play and not the other bed. |

Woke up after already changing rooms once for sanitary (or lack thereof) reasons, with bites all over mine and my husband's arms and legs. As we were packing to leave saw a bed bug walk across the floor and caught it in a cup and brought it to desk. |

Came home to find I was covered in bites - at least 30. Now have found a bug in my own bed. Have had to call pest control and will begin throwing out all of my suitcases. |
Date of Reported Incident:2012-05-22 09:13:31 Name of Location: Radisson Hotel, Utica, NY Address of Location:Utica, NY Details: This hotel was the only nearby choice available for my daughter's college graduation. I saw it listed on bedbugreports.com so I came prepared with a magnifying glass, gloves, old credit card for scraping away mattress seams. We checked in at night, about 9:30 PM. This room has two double beds. After I peeled way the sheets from the mattress near the headboard, I saw that there was a separate fuzzy type mattress cover on the top of the mattress and noticed a small black bug still alive in the center. This mattress cover also had and some small red spots on it. I looked at the bug under my magnifying glass. It was definitely a bug, I could see the head and legs. There were also some human hairs on this mattress cover, something else unappealing on the bed. I am not sure if this was a bed bug, but it definitely was a bug that was alive and one I was unfamiliar with. I went down to the desk and asked for another room. They said there were no other free rooms. I believed them because of the graduation the next morning. They sent the manager up to the room. She picked the black bug up along with some fuzz from the cover and squished it, telling me this is lint, this is not a bug. She called for another guy to come to the room who proceeded to pull the bed apart. When I spotted another of the same bug, he did the same thing she did, he immediately squashed it and claimed it was lint, no bug, almost as if they are trained to behave this way. I used the other bed which looked okay, but could not sleep the whole night due to this incident. |

I checked in on 5/18/12 and inspected the room and found bed bugs in the bed mattress. I called the front desk and they moved me to room 141 but there was no way I was staying there. They refused to give me even a partial refund. Beware of this place... |

I have not traveled anywhere else prior or after so I definitely think it's a possibility they came from this hotel. |

Date of Reported Incident:2012-05-22 09:10:49 Name of Location: Callaway Gardens Resort Address of Location:Pine Mountain, GA Details: Checked into Callaway Garden's Mountain Creek Inn, Room 122 on 4/15/2012, checked out on 4/22/2012. After a day or two, my roommate noticed a few new bites each day on wrists, ankles & neck (had long nightgown on)--we just thought they were mosquitos. We noticed blood spot on her sheet mid-week. I noticed a few bites on right forearm on 4/20, then a few on left forearm on 4/21. Checked out morning of 4/22 and by mid-day on drive home, my arms were covered. Also have strip of bites across lower back and random ones on both legs. My roommates' were more like mosquito bites, but mine developed into large welts that intensely itched. We were suspicious on the trip home, did some research & looked like bb's. I went to my family Dr on 4/23 & she said that it looked like bedbugs. I immediately called hotel manager, got voice mail. I called back at 5:15 pm, front desk said he was out until 4/25. Told them about my bites & Dr visit, & they seemed disturbingly unconcerned. He called me on 4/25, refunded each of us $50 (group room rate was $110/nite), apologized for the trouble & said they would get their certified inspector there ASAP and would call me back with results. He did call back and said they found nothing, but were sending in 2nd company 'to spray.'??? I started wondering if my bites could be something else, so went to my dermatologist. She said they were definitely bug bites and were not fleas, chiggers, mosquitos or spiders, and were VERY suspicious of being bedbugs's. Many of the bites were in 'lines'. Called manager back and he passed me onto Mgr of all of Callaway. Left message for him & have never heard back. :( I've spent $150+ in co-pays for Dr visits, Rx's & OTC treatments. Bites finally started to subside after 2 full weeks and are still faintly visible at 4 wks. I've learned a LOT about bb's in the past month and now know how to check for them. |

We notified the manager and showed him the few that we trapped in a cup. He offered us another room. We declined. He refunded our money. |

Date of Reported Incident:2012-05-22 08:18:39 Name of Location: Irish Channel Funding, LLC Address of Location:New Orleans, LA Details: I have been fighting bed bugs for over 3 months now without significant help from my Landlord. The place has been "bombed" three times, with the fumigating bombs purchased at Walmart. Obviously not going to make a difference - I did the research at the very first SIGHTING (yes - I have seen them - many of them) & let my Landlord know what the professionals reccomend (tenting & heat). The last time my Landlord's staff (not a professional exterminator)managed to set the bombs off with the windows left open. Each time I return to more LIVING bedbugs. This past week I was informed that my lease will not be renewed due to pending renovations. Hopefully in order to fix the infestation properly, though I doubt that at this point. I have been unable to live in my apartment for at least a month altogether - do I have any legal recourse? I have also tried to manage the infestation myself - diatomaceous earth particularly and am waiting to find out if this had ANY effect. I now am being forced to move & want to make certain I do not take them with me to further spread around an already overrun city - suggestions? |
Date of Reported Incident:2012-05-22 08:18:04 Name of Location: Fairfield Inn Address of Location:Ann Arbor, MI Details: Since I have to travel often for my career, I have had to become really diligent in checking hotel rooms for bugs. I learned the hard way by unknowingly bringing some home with me and spend weeks dealing with poisons and re-washing everything. So when I first checked into my room at the Fairfield Inn, and saw a smashed bed bug on the nightstand, I went to the front desk and told them and they tried me in another room. The 2nd room had evidence of them under the mattress and nearby upholstery so I checked out. They were very nice about it but I do not know that they quite understood the seriousness of what they had on their hands. Fortunately the nearby Marriott Courtyard was new and immaculate and bug free. |

Two weeks after we returned home I noticed bites on my arms, hands and hips. I did call in a exterminator and they did confirm that I had bed bugs in my home and it was more than possible that I picked up an adult bed bug in the hotel, brought it home and that bug laid eggs in my home. Which the eggs take 2 weeks to hatch. The time line is spot on with the time that we stayed in the hotel. |

On our flight back my husband started getting bumps and itching. He did not say a thing till two days later. Now a month later, we have found a total of 5 bugs that cam back with us, and have had to get an exterminator. Dont stay here. |
